Well, I think this is a good start to address the problem of not having clear rule about how and when to select new chairs. While the proposal in itself looks OK, I wonder about
"each RIPE working group should have some rules regarding the re-selection of the chairs."
Does that mean that each WG will have rules, but they will have their own rules?
Yes.
Just a thought that "what if we could decide on common rules for every WG"?
We (as the WG chair collective) tried to agree on something, and couldn't. While some parts of the duties are really similar, others are different, and the individual communities of each WG are different enough that we decided to go for similar basics, like "the WG selects their chair" and "in regular intervals, chairs get re-affirmed", and leave the small print to each WG. Like, for example, the former EIX WG actually needed to have WG chair elections since it seemed to be way cool to run for EIX WG chair (they had like 5 candidates), while IPv6 and AP used to have "one chair, and no volunteers to share the work" - so no need to specify a detailed voting procedure there if you can be happy to have a single candidate. Gert Doering -- NetMaster -- have you enabled IPv6 on something today...? SpaceNet AG Vorstand: Sebastian v. Bomhard Joseph-Dollinger-Bogen 14 Aufsichtsratsvors.: A.
