and why should they trust ripe and apnic more than icann? all act from positions of power while claiming service. I was just argueing that "the internet will work fine without ICANN, so maybe they should actually start being productive for the money they burn".
s/icann/icann, the rirs, .../ all this is a social experiment to see how many bureaucrats, amateur politicians (though the professionals are entering the fray), bureaucrats, lawyers, and just plain slimeballs it takes to replace one part-time computer scientist (whose 60th birthday would have been last wednesday). randy
