Is the existing RIPE Database (both as address and routing registry) seen or not seen as a "gateway controller" per above?
Not. Right now there is a very low coupling between the contents of the RIPE database and what is actually allowed for routing on the Internet, very few operators actually use RPSL or alike to create filters, thus whatever is in the RIPE database doesn't have an immediate short term operational impact. With a tighter coupling between RIPE database contents and Internet Routing, this changes. -- Mikael Abrahamsson email: swmike@swm.pp.se
