Cosmetic Surgery Project: Last Call for Comments on Draft Document for Reverse Delegation Policy ripe-302
Dear colleagues, As part of the Cosmetic Surgery Project, the RIPE NCC published for community review the draft policy document ripe-302, "Policy for Reverse Address Delegation of IPv4 and IPv6 Address Space in the RIPE NCC Service Region". Information on the Cosmetic Surgery Project and the draft policy document are available at: https://www.ripe.net/ripe/readability/improving-the-readability-of-ripe-docu... The Review Phase for this document has ended. After the feedback received, the Address Policy Working Group co-chairs decided to move into the Last Call period for comments. This period will last until 26 October 2012. We encourage you to read this merged version. Please send any comments to address-policy-wg at ripe.net by 26 October 2012. I have an objection on grammatical and aesthetic grounds. This seems particularly appropriate in the context of a "Cosmetic Surgery" review.
2.0 Introduction
The RIPE NCC provides the necessary support to enable resolution of IPv4 and IPv6 address space into domain names. This service is implemented under the in-addr.arpa and ip6.arpa sub domains described in [1] and [2].
"Sub" is a prefix, not an adjective. Please substitute for "sub domains" any of the following: "sub-domains" -- a hyphen is usually appropriate after a prefix; "subdomains" -- a well-established derived word needs no hyphen; "domains" -- no qualifying prefix is actually necessary, as both "in-addr.arpa" and "ip6.arpa" are domains, and the value of emphasizing their subsidiarity in this context is doubtful. Have a good weekend, everyone! /Niall
