If this discussion you refer to did take place, I do agree that it is something the antispam community at large has moved on from over a decade back, and shifted its focus to operational mitigation - something that really should be relevant to this WG. I would urgently request that abuse-wg members please try to also involve their colleagues who work on abuse rather than routing / dns teams.
