Thanks for this, Nick. I just wanted to highlight the fact that the root name servers are explicitly exempted from the directive (in recital 32, article 6.20 and annex II). This exemption was something that the RIPE NCC actively advocated, along with Netnod and others in the technical community, and we’re really pleased to see that our collective efforts paid off. Thank you to everyone who played a role in helping to strengthen the directive in this way, and any other ways you may have contributed. There will be many more proposals and opportunities to help shape things in a positive direction - don’t hesitate to reach out to us to learn more about how we can potentially cooperate on these matters. There are several stages to go before this is finalised as a directive, and several more before it can be passed as legislation by national parliaments, but this text is unlikely to undergo any more substantial changes.
