Dear Colleagues,
Following the discussion at the RIPE-39 meeting, Aril 30 - May 4 2001, the RIPE NCC will discontinue issuing licenses for PGPi 5.0 software. No licenses will be issued after June 1, 2001.
There are two main reasons for such decision:
1. The PGPi 5.0 software contains several bugs that may compromise the security of the generated keys. The RIPE NCC can issue licenses only for this version of the software.
2. The v3 of the RIPE Database supports GnuPG (GNU Privacy Guard) software, which is available free of charge and is proved to be a reliable and secure software.
To learn more about GnuPG software, please visit http://www.gpg.org.
The correct URL should be: http://www.gnupg.org. Apologies for the mistake. Regards, Andrei Robachevsky
