So far we have had 9 member users trying this. Given the repeated requests for it I am somewhat surprised. We are also looking for any concerns from the membership about confidentiality issues with this particular presentation. Please also tell us whether we should extend the demo period beyond the end of the RIPE meeting. Daniel
Hi Daniel this is a very cool feature that came in just in time for me. Because we have a dispute about the ownership of a /16 and it was very informative for me to see the changes of the inetnum: record over the time. Can you please explain why this history is only available for members?
Two main reasons: It is easier for us to deal with abuse if coming from a person that is associated with a member, formal legal relationship and all that. Our membership is telling us that they want more tangible "premium" benefits from their membership in addition to the services we provide to the community at large. While we are developing members-only services and members-only features in community services we remain committed to provide service to the community at large of course. Daniel

Of course it goes without saying that what is members-only is not cast in stone at all. If anyone wants things done differently get together a body of opinion in the services-wg or over here. Argue for making history available to all. Sorry for stating the obvious but I have been accused of a top-down dictatorial style lately. So here you go. ;-) Daniel PS: And just to be even more sure: personally I am for the most open and wide availability of RIPE NCC services that is humanly possible as long as we can effectively prevent abuse. In an ideal world all members see the value of what we do even without getting special "premium" access. But that ideal world does not exist I am afraid.
