Do we condone using the DB for this idiocy? I notice this as-set has since been deleted: as-set: AS200080:AS-KAT-IS-GAY descr: KAT IS ALSO VERY SHORT descr: THIS IS A JOKE AS-SET members: AS13335 members: AS16509 members: AS15169 members: AS36384 members: AS1 members: AS2 members: AS3 members: AS4 members: AS5 members: AS6 members: AS7 members: AS8 members: AS9 members: AS10 members: AS11 members: AS12 members: AS13 members: AS14 members: AS15 ... org: ORG-TA1687-RIPE tech-c: DUMY-RIPE admin-c: DUMY-RIPE mnt-by: T17HOST-MNT created: 2024-08-22T20:18:34Z last-modified: 2024-08-22T20:58:03Z source: RIPE Regards, Hank
Moin, a few things I'd like to note here, before there is another jump against "all those personal ASNs polluting the DB". - The ORG for this object seems to be an LLC - The text seems to be some form of attempt to throw shade against some--perceived--groups of personal ASes - The LLC seems to have rather spontaneously disappeared, if one can believe the website behind the abuse@/what is found on BGP-Tools: https://geexn.net/ : Down for Maintenance (Err 3) Never to be seen again, was a great run. Please check your email if you had an account. With best regards, Tobias On Fri, 2024-08-23 at 08:20 +0300, Hank Nussbacher wrote:

I think some of this is a 2nd order effect of bgp.tools having AS-SET alerting, and people using the knowledge that adding people to AS-SETs generates alerts for some people now. I'm probably going to remove the AS-SET monitoring feature for non paying customers, since the feature was only made for one particular customer anyway, and it likely does not matter for personal networks as much.
