Locking unmaintained PERSON and ROLE objects in the RIPE Database
reg id: uk.bt Dear Trudy Prins, Can you tell me what will happen at present with our current PA assignments to our end customers when we try to register them on the RIPE NCC database against an unmaintained person object. Will it fail, or will it pass and we just get a warning? Or, is the process now as stated in your proposal set out in your email ? Hi Myrna, there are no longer any unmaintained person objects in the RIPE database. These objects have now been locked. It is possible to make references to locked objects without the update failing, but it is not recommended as the locked objects can no longer be maintained. We propose to add a warning to an update response, if a locked object is referenced. Regards Ed Shryane RIPE NCC
