Historical data and deleted objects
Hi, We had some talk about historical data on RIPE67 and I think we agreed on the possibility of retrieving deleted history too. Is there any progress on this? regards, -- Bengt Gördén Resilans AB
Dear Bengt During the RIPE NCC presentation in the DB WG session at RIPE 67 I mentioned that we don't currently provide historical data for deleted objects. Also for objects that have been deleted and re-created, we only provide historical data back to the last re-creation date. This was an arbitrary decision when we implemented the --list-versions and --show-version query options. There was no discussion or agreement on taking this any further at RIPE 67 or since on the mailing list. If the community would like us to provide this service, we can add this to our feature list for a future release of the RIPE Database software. These query options provide the incremental changes to individual objects over time. RIPEstat also provides historical data based on snapshots of the RIPE Database. This is the same data but from a different perspective. This may also be of interest to you. Regards Denis Walker Business Analyst RIPE NCC Database Team On 26/11/2013 15:26, Bengt Gördén wrote:

More about this functionality is described in the RIPE Labs articles: https://labs.ripe.net/Members/dfk/registration-history-for-members-a-demo & https://labs.ripe.net/Members/becha/ripestat-objects-browser-for-ripe-databa... Please let us know if you have any questions or feedback. Kind regards, Vesna

I must have spoken to someone else, or maybe it was just me myself and I having a late night meeting :). Anyway, thanks for the clarification.

Yes, please implement this. I/we (se.resilans) would be very interested in this. I was told that the data is there, it's just not exposed. Which objects could potentially be exposed? Right now I'm searching for inetnum and inet6num but aut-num, route etc would also be interesting.

Thanks. I've been looking into this. It's good data too. regards, /bengan
