DRAFT input for the RIPE database on NSAP addresses for SURFnet bv
Hello all of you, Below you find the DRAFT entries for CLNS domain for SURFnet bv. There are still some open ends: - I introduced the guardian list: clns-domain-guardian. This because the IP and CLNS guardians coudl be different persons/organisations. What is the idea of RIPE for this? - I changed the responsibility of entry with relation to my earlier mail. It now seems to be more alligned with the existing IP world. - Marcel, are you still pushing ISO to include the top-levels of NSAP domains in the RIPe database? Together with the DUtch NSO (NNI) we could jointly put presure on ISO. - I am trying to get the Dutch NSO (NNI) involved in their entries. - syntax checking is, I assume, not yet their (including logical checking, like bis info, domain info, routing info, etc.). The CLNS coordination group will have to look at that. Marcel? If people have remarks to the below entries, please let me know. I plan to input the entries next week in the RIPE database. I think that we should change this. Any other ideas???

Henk, could you change your document about this? dom-name is a text string in your doc.
Also desc should be descr, admin-c AND tech-c are mandatory
Perhaps it is important to say in the document of Henk, that these fields are mandatory. All the best, Victor
Victor: I'd like to suggest a departure from your current structure of the current RIPE for clnp. I think the CLNP information should mirror the IP functions. IP keeps the following information: 1) Registration of IP addresses and AS information 2) Registration of Routing policy 3) Registration of Aggregation policy CLNP ought to have as close as a format to IP as possible. Therefore: I would suggest use use two different denotations: i-prefix - for the nlri prefix RD-prefix - for the domain's RDI which is the AS equivalent. I find your use in the SURFNET prefixes to confuse between RDI - which is the AS equivalent and the nlri prefix. So I propose an alternate structure: ISO-prefix - for nlri I-NET: for BISs RDI: for RDI and policy at RDI level I-AGGR: for iso aggregation This follows the IP format. Then tools might get shared if the only thing you change is ping -> clnpping traceroute -> iso traceroute What do you think? Below the example of the entries. The next message will have your SURFNET stuff with the entries. Hello Henk, Could you please react to this mail of Sue (perhaps together with Daniel). It seems that there are some changes proposed to the document discussed within RIPE. It is important to have a common view of would should be in the RIPE database and if there need to be made changes before a big use is made of it. Please provide your input to this. Sorry I have no time to look into this stuff right now. If things need to be changed then it needs review by the db wg. Daniel
Here's an alternative for the NSAP prefixes: Again: i-prefix -- NLRI in ISO land RDI- AS policy in RDI land I've not encoded the bis as i-net or the aggregation policy. Once I get questions on this one, I'll go into the aggregation policy. My main concerns are 39 and 38... etc are most likely aggregates of iso addresses, as we have IP aggregates. They will not, in the RIPE concepts, belong to one AS. So... since ISO agrees with RIPE that one prefix belongs to one RDI/AS... I wonder what is going on with 39 or 38 or 47. These are in truth aggregates of addresses behind the router pointing toward another direction. Welll... you asked for comments ;-) ....
