Re: Removal of selected sets of contact information from the RIPEDatabase
Hi,
1. The following unreferenced person objects will be deleted: - objects referenced only from *.de domains, according to the list provided by DENIC (or list of mntners that define that set); - objects that are un-maintained.
Did I understand that correctly? Objects (e.g. persons) referenced only from .de domains are going to be deleted even if they are maintained (e.g. by DENIC-P). Imho that would be quite a big problem because DENIC's database relies on the RIPE database for person objects. Afaik there's no possibility to create a person object directly in the DENIC database. You are correct regarding the current setup. According to the agreement between the RIPE NCC and the DENIC, the DENIC will discontinue using the RIPE Database as a repository for person objects. This should happen before the day of the database cleanup, September 21.

I have just spoken to DENIC though, and they told me they were migrating those person objects to an own DENIC database. The same was done for domains quite a while ago also by the way, domains were stored in the RIPE database and have been ported to DENIC. Also, most other NICs have - according to my infos - already migrated to own databases, why would not DENIC do also? Cheers, Christoph Kuhles Managing Director Aquatix IT-Services
Hi, I'm sorry for having had "RIPE Database Management" in the From: field, I just noticed myself when I got back my own mail. I am of course not managine the RIPE database in any way, please apologize if that real name was misleading.
