Hi Leo, I am not trying to say that it doesn't matter and in fact it does matter to me personally as I don't have an employer who can pay for me to go to RIPE meetings. Travel costs are managed in most kinds of organizations. And people working in smaller organisations are likely to have less flexibility over discretionary spending.
Higher costs reduce the pool of people who can attend and/or the frequency with which they can attend.
The cost of attending is a particular problem for people earlier in their careers.
