Candidates for the open co-chair position at the RIPE DNS working group

Dear all, The deadline for volunteers/nominations has passed and I am very pleased to announce that we received a single self-nomination: Moritz Müller applying for a second term as co-chair. We will now collect expressions of support (or opposition) from the mailing-list, until Monday 20 May 2024, and will announce the results on Wednesday 22 May 2024 during the DNS working group session at the RIPE 88. Find below Moritz' motivation to apply for a second term: ### I'd like to volunteer for a second term as RIPE DNS-WG co-chair. In my last term, I've helped organizing (hopefully) interesting and diverse working-group meetings and I'd like to continue doing this for another 3 years. Authoritative DNS service degradation 2024-04-15

Dear colleagues, Yesterday at 09:15 UTC an unscheduled software update was rolled out on several of our Hosted DNS instances. This update applied an incorrect routing daemon configuration. Due to the incorrect configuration, DNS requests received by these DNS instances could no longer be answered. This affected 8 of our 20 Authoritative DNS sites. At 14:03 UTC the cause of the incident was identified, and anycast BGP announcements for the affected instances were withdrawn, redirecting traffic to other locations. This was completed at 14:15 UTC. We re-applied the correct routing configurations on all affected servers, and restored BGP announcements at 09:00 UTC today. Furthermore, we have applied measures to prevent automatic updates of the routing daemon software on all of our DNS servers. Kind regards, Martin Pels RIPE NCC

Dear colleagues, RIPE 88, taking place in Krakow, is coming closer. The meeting will be held from 20 to 24 May. Our working group meeting is currently scheduled on the 22th, but note that this might still change. This e-mail is our second official call for topics for the RIPE DNS working group session. If you are interested in presenting, please send your proposals to dns-wg-chairs(a)ripe.net. Please also indicate how much time you would need for your presentation including Q&A. As usual, both in-person and remote participation in the working group is possible. Dear Colleagues, This is a call for nominations or volunteers to co-chair the RIPE DNS working group. ************************************************************************************* Please DO NOT reply to this message if you wish to propose a volunteer. ************************************************************************************* Call for RIPE DNS Working Group Chair ------------------------------------------------------ In accordance with the chair selection process we announce that the term of one of our co-chairs (Moritz Müller) will expire at the upcoming RIPE Meeting (RIPE 88, Krakow) and we would like to invite volunteers, or nominations for someone to become a co-chair of the DNS working group. Anyone may volunteer, and anyone may be nominated by someone else (we will check with the person for acceptance). Note that having served one out of two terms, in accordance with the selection process, Moritz is eligible to volunteer again. To do this, please send a mail to <dns-wg-chairs AT ripe.net> before end of Sunday 21 April 2024 (UTC). Again, please DO NOT send your volunteer/nomination to the DNS WG mailing but rather the dns-wg-chairs mail alias. It would be helpful for candidates to give some words as to why they think they ought to be a co-chair, what new ideas, or improvements they might bring, and so on. We will publish the list of volunteers, along with anything the volunteers wish to include with their nomination, to this mailing list on Monday 22 April 2024. Discussion and support (or opposition) for each candidate can then be offered on the list. At the DNS working group session at RIPE 88, Willem and Dodo hope to announce consensus based on the mailing list discussion. Dear members As a longstanding member of CENTR myself and on behalf of CENTR, I would like to invite you to participate in the Call for Proposals for the Jamboree 2024, a 3-day conference organised by and for European ccTLD community, taking place in Copenhagen on 29 - 31 May 2024.
