Hello, Nominet have launched a fund designed to support both the innovation and maintenance of open source DNS projects. We have identified your publication/newsletter as a valuable opportunity to help us reach our intended audience of applicants. Co-chair selection for the RIPE DNS working group

Dear All, This is a call for nominations or volunteers to co-chair the RIPE DNS working group. ************************************************************************************* *Please DO NOT reply to this message if you wish to propose a volunteer.* ************************************************************************************* Call for RIPE DNS Working Group Chair In accordance with the chair selection process we announce that the term of one of our co-chairs (Willem Toorop) will expire at the upcoming RIPE Meeting (RIPE 91, Bucharest) and we would like to invite volunteers, or nominations for someone to become a co-chair of the DNS working group. Anyone may volunteer, and anyone may be nominated by someone else (we will check with the person for acceptance). I (Willem) decided not to volunteer again for a second term to make space for others to try out this wonderful and rewarding and low-effort community position To do this, please send a mail to <dns-wg-chairs AT ripe.net> before end of Sunday 21 April 2024 (UTC). Again, please DO NOT send your volunteer/nomination to the DNS WG mailing but rather the dns-wg-chairs mail alias. It would be helpful for candidates to give some words as to why they think they ought to be a co-chair, what new ideas, or improvements they might bring, and so on. RIPE 91 DNS-WG: Call for presentations

Dear colleagues, It might still seem far away, but RIPE 91 in Bucharest is approaching. The RIPE 91 meeting will be held from 20th to 24th October 2025. Our working group meeting is currently scheduled for 23rd October at 11:00 am, but note that this may still change. This e-mail is our first official call for topics for the DNS working group session. From RIPE 91 onwards, all plenary and working group proposals can be submitted through the same system, Pretalx. Please submit your proposals by 15 September 2025 using the following link: https://ripe91.ripe.net/present/call-for-presentations/ Please pay special attention to the following fields: • Talk type: This field is not relevant to us. Select any option you like. (These topics we think will complement the usual high-quality data-based research submissions we always hope to receive!) If you have something interesting to share with the community that lies outside of the focus above, please don't be put off - if it's good, we'll be happy to include it. Co-chair selection for the RIPE DNS working group

Dear all, The deadline for volunteering or nominating someone for DNS working group co-chair is now over and we have received one submission in response to our call. We are overjoyed to announce that Yevheniya Nosyk volunteered for the position! Find below a few words from Yevheniya. ======================================================================== I am a cybersecurity researcher at KOR Labs, where I conduct large-scale Internet measurements with a particular focus on DNS. I obtained my Ph.D. in Cybersecurity from Université Grenoble Alpes in 2024. Over the past two years, I have presented my research at RIPE, OARC, and IETF meetings. I was awarded the IRTF Applied Networking Research Prize for my work on Extended DNS Errors. I also have experience serving on scientific conference program committees. RIPE 90 BoF: Authoritative Name Server BCPs

Dear DNS-WG, We would like to inform you about a Birds of a Feather (BoF) session, discussing Authoritative Name Server BCPs at RIPE 90. The session will take place Thursday, 15 May 18:00 - 19:00 (UTC+1). Last year, the DNS Resolver Recommendations document (ripe-823) was published. Its purpose is to provide clear guidance and promote effective practices in DNS resolver operations. Such a document is still missing for authoritative name servers. In this Birds of a Feather session, we will organise a panel consisting of operators responsible for authoritative name servers at the root, TLDs and 2nd and lower level domain names. We will first discuss different aspects of TLD operations, including software choice, the use of anycast, monitoring, DNS over TLS, DNS Cookies and more. At the end of the session, we would like to get feedback from the panelists and the audience on whether there is also the need for a BCP for authoritative name server operations, if RIPE would be the right place for such a document, and if a task force should be formed. As last time, our working group meeting is currently scheduled on Wednesday morning. More concrete 14 May at 9:00 am, but note that this may still change.
