Dear colleagues, We've got a draft agenda for the DNS working group at RIPE 83. * Welcome & Agenda Bashing * DNS Working Group Co-Chair Selection * PROXYv2 in DNS Peter van Dijk & Pieter Lexis from PowerDNS * Measuring RSA 4096 validation Geoff Huston & Joao Damas from APNIC * Accessing the Public Suffix List as a service Peter Thomassen from deSEC * BIND 9.16 Petr Špaček from ISC * RIPE NCC DNS Update Anand Buddhdev from RIPE NCC You may ask yourself how this can possibly all fit in 60 minutes. We've basically given everyone 10 minutes and will use a combination of iron discipline and nervously watching the clock the whole time. We also apologize for only having 4 of our 7 presenters named a variation of Peter. We'll try to improve our already rigorous process for future meetings, to maximize our Peter-delivered content. DNS Reverse configuration

Hi list, My question is related to reverse DNS configuration. I have access to the domain object of a /16 with 4 NS configured (say ns1 2 3 4). We don't have access to the NS servers. We are LIR for the /16. We announce the last x.x.255.0/24 of this /16 via our ASN. We want to create reverse DNS records for the last x.x.255.0/24. The problem is that, the owner of the NS don't want to delegate the /24 reverse. They just don't want to touch the NS. My question is : can I create a new domain object only for this x.x.255.0/24, so that I can create reverse records on our own NS and only for this /24. Is this is clear enough ? Thanks Regards

Be a co-chair of the DNS working group

Dear colleagues, Due to how terms are aligned and their duration limited we go through a chair selection at the autumn RIPE meeting every year. In the past three years an incumbent chair has always been re-selected unopposed. I've been a co-chair of the DNS working group since succeeding Peter Koch at RIPE 71 in 2015. Having now served two terms I'm now ineligible for nomination in the upcoming selection. Someone new must be nominated and selected this time! Joao sent a call for nominations to the list yesterday. It describes the process and the job description, selection process and the timeline. These days the dns wg doesn't do a lot in the way of work in terms of policy development, and the mail list isn't as active as it once was, but the meetings continue to be well attended and blessed with excellent content and engaged participation. The job of a co-chair then is mostly around the organizing of an agenda for meetings. Please consider volunteering! I'm very happy to talk in email, or with voices, with anyone considering this who'd like to know more. Don't hesitate to reach out to me directly. Thanks and very kind regards, dave

AuthDNS expansion and improved Hosted DNS app

Dear colleagues, We are happy to announce that you can now apply to host an instance of our AuthDNS service. We have updated our app, and it can now handle applications for both K-root and AuthDNS. DNS reverse configuration

Dear Support, My question is related to reverse DNS configuration. We are LIR for an organization (administration) owning a /16. 2 DNS servers of this organization have delegation for reverse requests. Due to IPv4 addresses exhaustion, we have dedicated the last /24 to another organization (administration). The /24 is already used. Now the problem is that the (owner) organization doesn't want to host our reverse records for the last /24. So, my question is it possible to declare 2 different DNS for delegation only for the /24 ? OARConline 35a Registrations and OARC 36 Call for Contributions

OARConline 35a is around the corner and will be taking place online on September 8th at 15:00 UTC. Registrations are now open at https://www.dns-oarc.net/oarc35a. OARC 36 will be an online meeting on November 29th & 30th starting at 10:00 UTC. The Programme Committee is seeking contributions from the community. All DNS-related subjects and suggestions for discussion topics are welcome. For inspiration, we provide a non-exhaustive list of ideas: - Deployment: Managing DNS changes and propagation, release process, change management. - Monitoring: Log ingestion pipeline, analytics infrastructure, anomaly detection. - Scaling: Managing service capacity, failovers, disaster recovery. As it is an online workshop, we'd like to encourage brevity; presentations should not be longer than 20 minutes (with additional time for questions). **Workshop Milestones:** * 25 August 2021 - Submissions open via Indico * 1 October 2021 - Deadline for submission (23:59 UTC) * 11 October 2021 - Initial Contribution list published * 1 November 2021 - Full agenda published * 16 November 2021 - Deadline for slideset submission and Rehearsal * 29 & 30 November 2021 - OARC 36 Workshop The Registration page and details for presentation submission are published at: <https://www.dns-oarc.net/oarc36> DNS-OARC provides registration fee waivers for the workshop to support those who are part of underrepresented groups at DNS-OARC.
