Dear colleagues, This is a call for nominations from the RIPE NCC service region to fill one vacant seat on the Number Resource Organization (NRO) Number Council (NC). The three-year term of Filiz Yilmaz ends on 31 December 2019. The election to the NRO NC seat will take place during the RIPE 79 Meeting to be held in Rotterdam from 14-18 October 2019. All members of the Internet community who are present at the RIPE Meeting may vote in the election. The deadline for nominations is 20 September 2019. Any individual residing within the RIPE NCC service region is eligible for nomination, except Regional Internet Registry (RIR) staff members. Self-nominations are permitted. The nomination process is available at: https://www.ripe.net/nro/nro-rc/nominations2019/process Please send your nominations to <nominations(a)ripe.net> by 23:59 UTC on 20 September 2019. All confirmed nominations will be listed on the RIPE NCC website by 23 September 2019. When a user sent an email attachment to us, we stored it in the Zendesk environment, causing a potential privacy issue. We addressed this concern at RIPE 78, advising the community that we would store attachments on our internal documents system (Alfresco). Attachments are now removed from Zendesk as soon as a ticket is updated. -- RIPE Database Release We have made some improvements to the Whois RDAP service. The service now conforms to the RDAP standards and behaves more consistently, including address formatting and RIPE-specific attributes. [news] 123rd RIPE NCC Executive Board Meeting - Summary Notes and Minutes

Dear RIPE NCC members, The RIPE NCC Executive Board held its 123rd Meeting on 21 June 2019. The draft minutes of this meeting are now available: https://www.ripe.net/about-us/executive-board/minutes/2019/minutes-123rd-ex… The Executive Board publishes the minutes of its meetings so that the workings of the Board and the decisions it makes are transparent for the membership that it represents. The following is a summary of the main items from the meeting. Further details are available in the minutes. - The RIPE NCC Executive Board agreed on the functions of board members as required by the RIPE NCC Articles of Association (AoA), as follows: Chairman: Christian Kaufmann Treasurer: Remco van Mook Secretary: Piotr Strzyżewski - On receiving a report on the current status of the draft RIPE Chair selection procedure, the RIPE NCC Executive Board noted its willingness to take on the role of appointing the Nomination Committee (NomCom) chair and confirming the selections made by the NomCom. Should the RIPE Chair selection procedure be adopted by the community, the RIPE NCC Executive Board will pass a formal resolution to accept their role in the process. - The Executive Board received a report from the Managing Director of the RIPE NCC, Axel Pawlik, including an update on the outcomes from the recent meeting with European Commission (EC) and Europol representatives in Brussels in response to concerns about inclusivity of the RIPE Policy Development Process (PDP). - The RIPE NCC Executive Board agreed to re-evaluate the option of offering paper ballots at RIPE NCC General Meetings. Hello, For the third year in a row, the RIPE NCC is committing to support activities and projects ‘for the Good of the Internet’. We are pleased to announce that applications are now open for funding from the RIPE NCC Community Projects Fund. Through the Community Projects Fund, the RIPE NCC will provide up to EUR 250,000 per year to support projects of value to the operation and resilience of the Internet, with a focus on tools and services benefitting the technical community in the Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia. The Internet today owes its success to a lot of non-commercial, community-driven work, and this continues to ensure the Internet remains resilient, secure and accessible. If you or your organisation is working on a new or existing project that fits the criteria below, and need some financial support to get it off the ground or keep it going, we want to hear from you! Is your project of benefit to the Internet, particularly the RIPE community? Is your project non-commercial in nature? Do you have a clear project plan and timeline? A couple of things to keep in mind: - Funding may be used to purchase equipment, but this cannot be the sole expenditure - Funding cannot be used for humanitarian aid, donations, or to encourage political reform - Funding cannot be used to provide scholarships or cover tuition fees - Funding cannot be used to support any form of commercial activity - Applications will be accepted until 1 September 2019 See the RIPE NCC Community Projects Fund website for more details!
