A discounted week ticket is available for students (EUR 175). If you represent a new RIPE NCC member, you may qualify for two free tickets to attend the RIPE Meeting. Executive Board meeting summary notes and minutes

Dear colleagues, The RIPE NCC Executive Board had its 89th meeting on 25 June 2013. The draft minutes are available at: http://www.ripe.net/lir-services/ncc/executive-board/minutes/2013/minutes-8… The minutes of all Board meetings are public, but we would like to announce the draft minutes of our latest meeting so you will be up to date with the Board’s thinking and ideas on all RIPE NCC-related matters. As requested by the membership, we are planning to provide more transparency on the discussions and decision-making processes in the Executive Board, so we will announce a summary of the meetings to the member mailing list from now on. If you would like to give us your feedback directly, you can mail us at <exec-board(a)ripe.net>. You can also discuss matters among the whole membership at<members-discuss(a)ripe.net>. With this in mind, I’d like to summarise the main items from the latest Executive Board meeting. Please see the draft minutes for further details on all these items. - The RIPE NCC will publish a Transparency Report that outlines all requests and subsequent actions from law enforcement agencies received in 2012. This will be published annually from now on. - Review of the RIPE NCC financial reserve levels, and decisions regarding those reserves, will take place and be made known to the membership as soon as discussion with the Dutch tax authorities has concluded. - The Board agreed that an increase to a maximum of seven RIPE NCC Executive Board positions would be appropriate. The Board will propose a resolution to change the Articles of Association to allow for this increase at the upcoming RIPE NCC General Meeting in October 2013. - The Board agreed with the RIPE NCC Senior Management’s proposed augmentation of the Activity Plan and Budget 2014 to include labelling activities as "New Activity", "Expanding Activity", "Ongoing Activity", "Scaling Down Activity" and "Planned Ending Activity". The Board hopes these labels will add clarity and transparency regarding RIPE NCC activities. - The Board unanimously approved a proposal for additional resources to be used in 2013. These are for the expansion of RIPE NCC regional representation and for addressing the issues associated with internal legacy systems. - The Board determined that organisations in Russia that wish to move address space away from ROSNIIROS should be able to do so outside of RIPE transfer policies. - The Board approved a change so that one Board member, in conjunction with the CFO and CEO, can authorise a transfer from deposits. The Board approved an update to the Treasury Statute in accordance with this decision. - The Board agreed to reduce RIPE Meeting fees to EUR 350 and RIPE Meeting Dinner ticket fees to EUR 50. [news] The Fourth Global IPv6 Deployment Survey is Now Open

[Apologies for duplicates] Dear colleagues, As in previous years, the Number Resource Organisation (NRO) invites you to participate in the 4th consecutive Global IPv6 Deployment Monitoring Survey on the current and future use of IPv6. The IPv6 Deployment Monitoring Survey is now online, and we encourage all members of our community to participate: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/GlobalIPv6survey2013 The purpose of the survey is to better understand where the Internet community is going, and what can be done to ensure it is ready for the widespread adoption of IPv6. We hope this survey will establish a comprehensive view of current IPv6 penetration and future deployment plans for IPv6. This year’s survey is similar to those conducted in previous years (2010, 2011 and 2012), and will enable a comparison of progress. What is clear is that community participation does contribute to a better understanding of how IPv6 is being used. In 2012, 91% of the over 1,500 respondents indicated that they were interested in participating again in the 2013 survey. This survey has a maximum of 30 questions and will take about 20 minutes to complete. For those without IPv6 allocations or assignments, or have not yet deployed IPv6, the questions will be fewer in number. The survey will be open for a month and will close on 31 July 2013. Results of the IPv6 Deployment Monitoring Survey will be presented and discussed widely, with the support of your Regional Internet Registry (RIR). [news] Request for Trusted Party to Host RIPE NCC "Warm Node"

Dear colleagues, The RIPE NCC has undertaken a project, under the guidance and approval of the RIPE NCC Executive Board, to set up a "warm node" that can operate some of the RIPE NCC's critical services in case of a major disaster in the Amsterdam area. The RIPE NCC wants to engage initially with a reputable and trusted party that can host this node within the RIPE NCC service region. The RIPE NCC is looking for only one hotspot rack. The submissions will be evaluated based on price, the location's suitability, connectivity and accessibility. Over 3,500 people responded to the survey, which is by far the highest number of responses we have received for any of our large-scale surveys. We would like to thank all those who participated - we are sure the feedback will prove invaluable as the RIPE NCC looks to improve its services and form its strategies based on the wishes of the RIPE NCC membership and the Internet community. Next Steps ---------- Over the next three months, the Oxford Internet Institute (OII) will analyse the results of the survey. At this point, the Oxford Internet Institute (OII) will close the survey and begin the process of analysing the results. If you have yet to fill out the survey, we ask that you please do so before it closes. [Apologies for duplicate emails] Dear colleagues, The RIPE NCC receives a lot of inquiries from people dealing with network abuse, such as spamming, hacking and phishing. While we have several tools available to help victims of network abuse find appropriate contact information, in addition to FAQs and information about the Anti-Abuse Working Group, all of this information was previously scattered across the RIPE NCC website in different places and could be difficult to find. We're happy to announce that we have created a dedicated page about network abuse that contains all the information on this topic that the RIPE NCC has available. We've developed this page in cooperation with the Anti-Abuse Working Group Chairs and we hope that this resource will be helpful to anyone dealing with network abuse, regardless of their technical background.
