Dear colleagues, On 2 January, we closed the RIPE NCC Academy, our e-learning platform, for some much-needed upgrades. Our original intention was to have the Academy back online and live by 27 January. However, we have run into some unforeseen issues with implementing this upgrade, and we will be unable to put the Academy back online by Monday. We are working to bring the Academy online as soon as possible. We currently anticipate that the Academy will be back up and running around mid-February. Dear colleagues, A few months ago the RIPE NCC became the first RIR to receive an additional /12 IPv6 allocation (2a10::/12) from IANA. We will soon begin to delegate space from this IPv6 block to LIRs. Prior to this, in order to improve routability and minimise the risk of filtering, the RIPE NCC will perform several de-bogonising activities in the next few weeks. We plan to start announcing the full /12, as well as a few /32 or longer blocks out of 2a10::/12 from AS12654 (RIPE Routing Information System (RIS)), within the next few days. We will analyse data from RIS and RIPE Atlas and we plan to write up an analysis around this effort. We want to remind everybody to update their bogon filters and allow routes originating from 2a10::/12 in their network. Dear RIPE NCC members, The RIPE NCC Executive Board held its 130th Meeting on 12 December 2019. The draft minutes of this meeting are now available: https://www.ripe.net/about-us/executive-board/minutes/2019/minutes-130th-ri… The Executive Board publishes the minutes of its meetings so that the workings of the Board and the decisions it makes are transparent for the membership that it represents. The following is a summary of the main items from the meeting. Further details are available in the minutes. - The Executive Board introduced a new action for the drafting of a document that will define and describe how the RIPE NCC Executive Board functions, engages and works among itself. - In support of the ongoing development of a transparent conflict of interest policy that applies to RIPE NCC staff and RIPE NCC Executive Board members, the Executive Board agreed that all Internet and industry related activities will be published in the biographies of RIPE NCC Executive Board members on the RIPE NCC's website. - The RIPE NCC Legal team will take on the task of producing a new proposal regarding Meeting Presenter Terms and Conditions. The proposal will be produced in coordination with the RIPE Working Group Chairs and the RIPE Programme Committee and will be presented for the review of the RIPE NCC Executive Board. - The RIPE Chair continues work on a draft procedure describing funding for RIPE Working Group Chairs. The procedure will provide clear terms and conditions for applications for funding. The draft procedure will be presented to the RIPE Working Group Chairs mailing list for discussion. - The Executive Board received reports from the RIPE NCC Management Team, the HR Director and the Chief Financial Officer. [news] RIPE NCC Activity Plan and Budget 2020 Published

Dear RIPE NCC members, The RIPE NCC Activity Plan and Budget 2020 is now available. This definitive document has been approved by the RIPE NCC Executive Board with input from our membership. It outlines the work we will undertake in the coming year and the associated costs for each activity. The document is available at: https://www.ripe.net/publications/docs/ripe-735 The main points from this year's Activity Plan and Budget are: - Our budget will increase by 4% - No increase to our FTE count - A forecast revenue decrease of 12% in 2020, as we expect to end the year with approximately 1,500 fewer LIR accounts than we started with - The membership fee remains at EUR 1,400 - There is an anticipated surplus of 3,332 kEUR to potentially be redistributed to the membership - The cost per LIR is expected to be EUR 1,498, up from EUR 1,367 in the 2019 Budget Feedback we received from the Executive Board and from the membership at last October's General Meeting (GM) did not result in any significant changes since the draft version was published in September.
