Dear colleagues, The RIPE NCC Executive Board held its 108th meeting on 8 September 2016. The draft minutes of this meeting are now available: https://www.ripe.net/about-us/executive-board/minutes/2016/minutes-108th-ex… The Executive Board publishes the minutes of its meetings so that the workings of the Board and the decisions it makes are transparent for the membership that it represents. The following is a summary of the main items from the meeting. Further details are available in the minutes: - The Board approved the Draft Activity Plan and Budget 2017 and asked that it be published for the membership - The Board reviewed the process for LIR applications for legacy address space holders and proposed an amendment to the RIPE NCC Charging Scheme for 2016 and 2017 - The Board decided to issue a resolution temporarily suspending the waiver of the LIR sign-up fee for legacy Internet resource holders - The Board asked the RIPE NCC to add discussion of the RIPE NCC Charging Scheme model to the General Meeting agenda - The Board requested that the RIPE NCC produce a report on the process it uses to handle fraudulent activity Kind regards Axel Pawlik Managing Director RIPE NCC

[news] IANA Stewardship Transition Completed

Dear colleagues, On 1 October 2016, the IANA functions contract that the United States Government had with ICANN was allowed to expire. This represents the final step in the community-led IANA stewardship transition process that began in 2014. Oversight of IANA is now the responsibility of the Names, Numbers and Protocol Parameters communities that rely on its services. The five Regional Internet Registries have a Service Level Agreement (SLA) in place with IANA that defines our expectations moving forward. A community-selected IANA Numbering Services Review Committee will assist the NRO Executive Council when it conducts periodic reviews of IANA's services. Aside from this, our work with IANA will be unchanged and members will not see any operational difference. We would like to thank everyone from the RIPE community who participated in this process — whether by sharing their views at RIPE Meetings or on the various mailing lists, or participating more directly within the CRISP, CCWG-Accountability and ICG groups. The ability of the five RIR communities to organise and contribute effectively to this global effort was a demonstration of the strength of our open, transparent and bottom-up approach. [news] Simplified User Management in the LIR Portal - Please Migrate

Dear colleagues, We are happy to announce that we have simplified user management in the LIR Portal while making communication with the RIPE NCC more secure for our members. For historic reasons, the LIR Portal contained an LIR Contacts list with names and email addresses of persons who are eligible to contact the RIPE NCC on the LIR's behalf. However, for security purposes we already require that specific tasks such as requesting resources or changing contact details must be performed by an authorised LIR Portal user. This is why we are merging both lists into a single set of LIR Portal user accounts. We have created a wizard that will guide a user with administrator privileges through the migration process: https://my.ripe.net/#/contacts Please note that there is no deadline on migrating LIR Contacts at the moment but we are working to ensure there is a single list of authorised user accounts as soon as possible. Your help in facilitating this process would be appreciated. There are three confirmed candidates for the NRO NC election: - Paolo Bellorini - R. Dear colleagues, The IANA Numbering Services Review Committee will assist and advise the NRO Executive Council when it conducts periodic reviews of the services that the IANA Numbering Services Operator provides to the Internet Number Community. The committee was required as part of the Internet Number Community's proposal to replace US Government oversight of the IANA functions and will become active upon completion of the transition process. More detail can be found in the IANA Numbering Services Review Committee Charter: https://www.nro.net/wp-content/uploads/Review-Committee-Charter_FINALclean.… The representatives from the RIPE NCC service region on the committee will be the two community-elected NRO Number Council (NC) members and one RIPE NCC staff member who will be appointed for a three-year term by the RIPE NCC Executive Board. Dear RIPE NCC members, The Draft RIPE NCC Activity Plan and Budget 2017 is now available for your review: https://www.ripe.net/participate/meetings/gm/meetings/october-2016/supporti… The Draft Activity Plan and Budget is the clearest way that RIPE NCC members can learn about, comment on and ultimately shape the direction that the RIPE NCC will take in the coming year. By publishing the draft document now, the RIPE NCC membership has six weeks until the General Meeting (GM) on 26 October 2016 to review and discuss the contents of the document. Further discussion will take place at the GM. We ask that you read the document and provide feedback on the members-discuss mailing list <members-discuss(a)ripe.net>. The Executive Board will take note of all feedback and discussions regarding the Activity Plan and Budget before publishing a final version in December 2016.
