[news] Correction to Income Figure in Activity Plan and Budget 2015

Dear colleagues, It has come to our attention that there was an error in the RIPE NCC Activity Plan and Budget 2015 that was published on our website. In the RIPE NCC Budgeted Statement of Income & Expenditure 2015, the total income was recorded as kEUR 22,269. This figure should have been kEUR 23,269. This was a typo and did not impact on the overall budget result that was reported. We have amended the document to show the correct figure. We apologise for the error. We will publish this document for the membership to discuss in advance of the RIPE NCC General Meeting that takes place in Bucharest on 18 November 2015. Dear colleagues, The RIPE NCC Executive Board held its 100th meeting on 15 May 2015 and its 101st meeting on 16 June 2015. The draft minutes of these meetings are now available. Further details are available in the minutes. At the 100th Executive Board meeting: The Executive Board congratulated Dmitry Burkov and János Zsakó on their election to the Board. The Board decided on the distribution of functions among themselves: - Nigel Titley, Chairman - Remco van Mook, Treasurer - Christian Kaufmann, Secretary - Dmitry Burkov, ICANN Liaison - Maria Häll, Member - Salam Yamout, Member - János Zsakó, Member At the 101st Executive Board meeting: - The Board asked the RIPE NCC to draw up a plan to manage concerns with Personal Data legislation in Russia. - The Board approved a rental agreement for new RIPE NCC offices in Amsterdam, which will result in a decrease in annual housing costs. - The Board approved the RIPE NCC expansion of the K-root network. - There was an update on several "Good of the Internet" proposals, including the development of the RIPE Academic Cooperation Initiative (RACI) to potentially become part of the Seed Alliance. - The Board asked for an amended arbitration procedure to be prepared for members to vote on at the next GM, to add flexibility in the case of potentially complex cases. - The Board asked the RIPE NCC to produce a report on the financial stress testing that was requested at the last General Meeting. - The Board tasked the RIPE NCC management to develop scenarios including an analysis of the current and expected customer base to see the industry sectors they belong to. The Board believes this type of analysis will allow them to better plan for the future. - The Board discussed items relating to the RIPE NCC Activity Plan and Budget 2016, which is currently being drafted by the RIPE NCC. [service] RIPE NCC will Remove pre-November 2011 Passwords from Maintainers

Dear colleagues, On Monday 13 July, the RIPE NCC will remove all RIPE Database maintainer MD5 passwords that have not been changed since November 2011. We are taking this step as a preventative security measure. This decision was taken in response to discussion on the RIPE Database Working Group mailing list and in close consultation with the working group co-chairs. The contacts of maintainers actively used in the past year have already received individual emails instructing them to change their password. If you have not received this email, but you have reason to believe that your password has not been modified since November 2011, you should change your password before Monday. PROPOSAL: 2015-01, "Alignment of Transfer Requirements for IPv4 Allocations" OVERVIEW: Currently, IPv4 allocations received from another LIR can only be re-allocated after 24 months, while IPv4 allocations made by the RIPE NCC can be transferred immediately. This proposal aims to align the transfer requirements with a 24-month holding period for all IPv4 allocations. RIPE NCC IMPACT ANALYSIS: Includes the point that currently around 10% of the allocations made by the RIPE NCC are transferred shortly after they have been allocated. PROPOSAL: 2015-03, "Assessment Criteria for IPv6 Initial Allocation Size" OVERVIEW: This proposal aims to remove the requirement that large IPv6 allocations are based only on existing users and network infrastructure. As a result of this policy implementation, the RIPE NCC will be able to consider additional criteria when evaluating IPv6 allocation requests. STATUS: Discussion Phase - Awaiting impact analysis* FULL PROPOSAL: https://www.ripe.net/participate/policies/proposals/2015-03 PROPOSAL: 2014-03, "Remove Multihoming Requirement for AS Number Assignments" OVERVIEW: This proposal aims to ease the requirements when requesting an Autonomous System (AS) Number. To this end, the following actions are proposed: - Remove the need for evaluation - Limit the number of AS Numbers per organisation to 1,000 - Require that 16-bit AS Numbers are multihomed after nine months RIPE NCC IMPACT ANALYSIS: Includes the point that it will be the End User that decides if the need for an AS Number is technically reasonable. One of the key elements of the Internet Number Community Proposal, described in section III.A.4, is the establishment of a Review Committee to ensure that the service level defined in the proposed SLA for the IANA Numbering Services is maintained by the IANA Numbering Services Operator. Further description of the Review of IANA Numbering services is described in Article 8 of the draft SLA. All interested parties are now encouraged to review and comment on the draft Internet Number Community Review Committee Charter.
