[news] RIPE NCC to Assign LISP EID Prefixes
Dear colleagues, From today, the RIPE NCC performs registry functions for IPv6 Endpoint ID (EID) prefixes for Locator/Identifier Separation Protocol (LISP). LISP is an experimental "map-and-encapsulate" protocol developed by the Internet Engineering Task Force's (IETF's) LISP Working Group: https://datatracker.ietf.org/wg/lisp/documents/ The IANA has assigned an IPv6 prefix for LISP EID space in accordance with RFC7954, which the RIPE NCC is now managing in accordance with RFC7955. Interested parties can request this space from the RIPE NCC via the LISP EID Request Form: https://www.ripe.net/manage-ips-and-asns/ipv6/lisp/lisp-request-form LISP EID assignments are provided free of charge. RIPE NCC membership is not required to receive a LISP EID assignment. This is a temporary prefix for a trial period of three years. In accordance with RFC7955, all assignments will be removed after 31 August 2019. The RIPE NCC website contains more information regarding LISP EID: https://www.ripe.net/lisp Kind regards, Andrew de la Haye Chief Operations Officer RIPE NCC
