Request for feedback about the new RIPE NCC Access Single Sign-On solution

Dear colleagues, At the RIPE NCC we are constantly working to improve the security of our services, both internal and external. This is reflected in the work we have planned for our business applications in the coming period, specifically the modernisation of RIPE NCC Access (https://access.ripe.net). RIPE NCC Access is the Single Sign-On (SSO) solution that we use to authenticate and authorise users to access our applications. It is a combination of a third-party identity provider and an application that we have developed in-house. Thanks in part to the feedback we have received over the past few years, we have identified several issues with the current solution and, in response, we have begun to review its architecture and assess possible improvements. We would like to involve our community early and ask for your feedback on this topic. Are there any features that you think are important for our SSO solution? What are you missing in the current solution? We value your feedback and look forward to hearing from you! [Apologies for cross-posting to various RIPE lists] Dear NCC Services WG members - this is the last call and final reminder for nominations to the 2022 Rob Blokzijl Award that will be accepted until this Friday, 18th March, at 23:59 UTC. In seeking nominations for this prestigious award, which was created to celebrate Rob's contributions to the development of the Internet, the Award Committee (https://rob-blokzijl-foundation.org/2021/11/22/2022-award-committee/) is interested to receive nominations of those who have reflected Rob's approach in either a technical or operational capacity. Please give some consideration to nominating individuals - but also teams and groups of people! - in your own community and/or the wider industry in the RIPE region who, in your opinion, deserve to be recognised for their work to make the internet and/or internet community better. To specifically have this emphasised again after some according queries: nominations of teams and groups of people are very well possible and wished for as well in case their collective work would match the criteria of the call as laid out! The Award Committee is particularly interested to receive nominations of contributors who, in addition to their own contributions, have also supported and enabled others anywhere in the world. Also, the Award Committee would like to encourage those making nominations to consider not only the community members in the later stages of their careers or who are widely known but also those who may have contributed greatly in the springtime of their career or discreetly for the greater good or who may be considered to be part of an unrepresented group. And last but not least: those of you who previously have made a nomination other than Wilfried Woeber, the 2018 awardee, may want to consider resubmitting a nomination. State of sanctions

Dear Alex, Apologies for the delay in getting back to you. As an association under Dutch law, the RIPE NCC is in principle subject to EU and Dutch sanctions regulations. Of relevance to us are financial sanctions, which consist of: - Freezing of funds and economic resources of designated persons and entities; and - A prohibition on making funds and economic resources available to such persons and entities. So far, these sanctions apply to designated persons and entities listed in EU sanctions regulations for Iran and Syria. The RIPE NCC has reviewed its membership and has set a restriction on transfer and resource requests for three of its members. This was announced by the RIPE NCC Executive Board last year in April[1], followed by an update in June[2]. In late December 2020, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) confirmed to the RIPE NCC its understanding that IP resources are considered economic resources, as defined in the EU sanctions regulations, and must be frozen for sanctioned entities. The MFA's primary concern is in terms of preventing the IP resources of sanctioned entities from being transferred, as well as preventing the allocation of additional resources. However, the MFA also said it believed the RIPE NCC had taken adequate steps to ensure compliance with sanctions and there was no need to deregister the IP resources of the three affected members. This was announced by the RIPE NCC Executive Board in March[3]. Please also note that the RIPE NCC had requested an exemption from EU sanctions regulations. However, the MFA stated that according to the regulation, there was no legal basis to exempt IP resources from sanctions. Regarding your last point, it might be difficult to provide a detailed overview, as anything we publish will have to be sufficiently anonymised to avoid identifying the affected members. However, we will see what we can do here, as we appreciate the value in having transparent reporting around this issue. Defining the Criticality of RIPE NCC Services

Our teams have looked at different industry standards on how to approach this and we'd now like to share a proposal to get this discussion started.
