Resource Certification/RPKI Workshop at RIPE 63

RIPE 63 attendees interested in Resource Certification/RPKI are encouraged to take part in a workshop on Monday, 31 October from 9:30-12:30 in the Park Congress 2+3 rooms. ===================== What you'll learn ===================== The workshop will focus on BGP Origin Validation, based on the Resource Public Key Infrastructure (RPKI). You will learn how RPKI enables network operators to make more reliable routing decisions and how it protects against accidental mis-origination, the most common routing error we see today. Using various open-source tools from rpki.net and the RIPE NCC, you will be able to set up a resource certificate and create Route Origin Authorisation (ROA) objects, stating which Autonomous Systems are authorised to originate the prefixes you hold. After publishing your ROAs, you can validate them and configure routers to set routing preferences based on the RPKI status of your prefixes. This workshop will be a collaboration between Rob Austein, Randy Bush, Michael Elkins, Benno Overeinder (NLNet Labs), Jac Kloots (SURFnet), Cisco Systems, Juniper Networks and the RIPE NCC. ========================= Participation Details ========================= You do not need to register for this workshop. There are no prerequisites for using the rpki.net tools. In order to generate a certificate and configure ROAs on the RIPE NCC pilot server, you'll need to have an LIR Portal user account with access to the certification system or know the administrator credentials for your LIR Portal account. Improvements to RIPE Database webforms

[Apologies for duplicate emails] Dear Colleagues, The RIPE NCC Database Group is pleased to announce some improvements to the database webforms. There is now an expanding menu on the right hand side of each form containing quick links to get to every form. You no longer need to bookmark each form and you can navigate to any other form quickly and easily. The query search results now have buttons for each object shown in the results. These buttons can be seen when you move your mouse over the object. By clicking one of these buttons, that object is opened in a Webupdates Form enabling you to either update or delete the object. Hi Sascha, You will be able to use a single username and password to access multiple LIRs after the migration. After logging into the LIR Portal with your RIPE NCC Access account, you will be able to choose which LIR you want to manage. If you want to make sure this works seamlessly, make sure the email address associated with your LIR Portal accounts are the same, and everything will be migrated automatically. If you prefer to have separated access, you can always choose two different email addresses. In that case you will have two Access accounts, one for each LIR you manage. We will also build the ability to merge two Access accounts, so you can always change your mind at a later stage. RIPE NCC Listing Service: Streamlining Resource Transfers

Dear Colleagues, As described in section 5.5 of RIPE policy, ripe-524 "Address Allocation and Assignment Policies for the RIPE NCC Service Region", RIPE NCC members are able to transfer Internet number resources to another member after RIPE NCC approval and based on demonstrated need. As the RIPE NCC's pool of available IPv4 addresses depletes, we expect that the number of members wanting to transfer resources will increase. In order to streamline the transfer process, we are launching the RIPE NCC Listing Service. The Listing Service enables members to offer the address blocks they hold and no longer need. Members who want to acquire IPv4 address space can browse the list and request a transfer under the current policy. Two new articles on RIPE Labs (status of legacy address space and RDQ - Phase2)

Dear colleagues, We published two new articles on RIPE Labs that you might find interesting: 1. Status of Legacy IPv4 Address Space: http://labs.ripe.net/Members/xavier/status-of-legacy-ipv4-address-space This short article shows the responses we received from holders of unannounced IPv4 address space. 2. Registry Data Quality Assessment – Phase 2: http://labs.ripe.net/Members/xavier/registry-data-quality-assessment-phase-2 This article describes the methodology used for the second phase of the Registry Data Quality activity and the results found. BGPViz timeouts

Hi, Lately I have a lot of problems getting analyses out of BGPViz. Every time I try to look at what has been going on for some time period I get a message: "Error occured: Could not send message". And after that the timeline won't be filled and I can't step through the announcements. Launch of RIPE NCC Access

[Apologies for duplicate emails] Dear colleagues, To improve the usability of our services, we are deploying a new user account system called RIPE NCC Access. It will allow you to use a single set of credentials to access most of our services. This means that all users of our various services will be asked to migrate or update their current login credentials to a new scheme, using your email address and a password of your choice. We will roll out RIPE NCC Access gradually. The first service to adopt this functionality is IS Alarms. All current IS Alarms users will receive an email with instructions on how to set up their RIPE NCC Access account. From Thursday, 15 September 2011, IS Alarms users will not be able to log in with their old credentials. In the following months, other services such as the LIR Portal, DNSMON and RIPE Atlas will follow. We will keep you updated on the progress. We are certain RIPE NCC Access will offer simplified and unified access to our services and improve the overall user experience. Web-based ROA Repository now public

[Apologies for duplicate emails] Dear colleagues, The RIPE NCC ROA Repository holds all of the Route Origin Authorisation objects created by the network operators using our Resource Certification service. ROAs state which Autonomous Systems are authorised to originate the prefixes an LIR holds. The repository currently contains over 350 ROAs covering more than 220,000 IPv4 /24 prefixes, which is almost 10% of the IPv4 address space registered in the RIPE region. Details on individual ROAs were only publicly available by running a command line validation tool. We have now made a Web-based ROA Repository available for everyone. It allows you to download and view details of all ROAs and related certificates, AS Numbers and prefixes.
