Dear Colleagues, It is our pleasure to open registration for the RIPE 44 Meeting, to be held from 27 January - 31 January 2003 at the hotel Krasnapolsky in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Please visit our website for further information on this meeting and accommodations: http://www.ripe.net/ripe/meetings/current/ripe-44 RIPE 44 Meeting fee: The registration fee for this meeting is EUR 400.00 (this includes refreshments and lunches) and the dinner fee is EUR 65.00. However, if payment is received before 24 January 2003, the pre-payment cut-off date, you will receive a pre-registration discount of EUR 50.00. Therefore, the fee for attendees paying before the cut-off date is EUR 350.00 for the meeting and 65.00 EUR for the RIPE dinner event. We do encourage pre-payment by credit card. The table shows an decrease since last month of over 110,000 (or 0,7%) to a total of almost 16,680,000 hosts in the DNS in Europe and surrounding areas. The at domain shows the highest increase for September with approximately 165,000 hosts more than in August. Mailing List Software Migration

Dear Mailing List Subscriber, The RIPE NCC will change its mailing list software from "majordomo" to "mailman" on 17 October 2002. The new mailing list software will give users more options to manage their subscriptions to the RIPE and RIPE NCC mailing lists. Additionally, this change is being made to ensure stability and continuity of mailing list management and archiving. The new mailing list software will give users a number of options using a web interface: - Subscribing and Unsubscribing to mailing lists - Reviewing general information about the mailing lists - Viewing subscriptions to mailing lists - Temporarily disabling mail delivery - Choosing between regular and digests of mailing list postings - Acknowledgements to postings The web interface will be located at the following URL: http://www.ripe.net/mailman/ As well as using the web interface, mailing list users can manage their subscription and retrieve information by using an e-mail client. Further details on this are available at the above URL. Please note that if mailing list users are already subscribed to one or more mailing lists, they do not have to take any action. Messages can still be sent to the regular mailing lists addresses and subscriptions will not have to be re-confirmed. RIPE NCC Survey Reminder: Open Forum Discussion

Dear RIPE NCC Members and Stakeholders, As part of the RIPE NCC members and stakeholders survey, John Earls of KPMG is visiting eleven major cities throughout our service region to hold open forums with members in each city. The open forums take place in the evening between 17:30-19:00 local time (with the exception of Moscow 18:00-19:30). RIPE NCC Membership Survey

[Apologies for duplicate messages.] Dear members and stakeholders, You may be aware that the RIPE NCC recently announced that we have commissioned KPMG to independently carry out a member and stakeholder survey on our behalf to take place from 1 September to 1 November 2002. The aim of this survey is to gather information from RIPE NCC members and stakeholders to help the RIPE NCC plan and improve its services to the membership. We would therefore like to invite you to participate in this survey by filling out and returning the survey forms to KPMG by 31st October. All responses go directly to KPMG and the source or identity of any input to the survey will remain confidential. The full details regarding this project can be found on our web site at: http://www.ripe.net/survey2002 Here you will find the Members Survey form, the Stakeholder Survey form and information for respondents. John Earls from KPMG will be coordinating this project. He will attend the RIPE 43 Meeting in Rhodes and will be available to discuss the survey with you in further detail. During September and October, John will be visiting a number of cities in the RIPE NCC service region to talk face to face with randomly selected members and stakeholders. In each city he has also scheduled a late afternoon opportunity for an informal discussion open to all members of the RIPE NCC. These open forums will allow those who attend to raise issues that they believe should be considered in the RIPE NCC future planning process.
