Hello all, First of all of course the best wishes for 1994 for all from the RIPE NCC. Below is the last hostcount for 1993. It has been run during the Xmas holidays, which might explain some domains showing a bit less than previous counts. All the domains that show lower figures have been redone, without improvement. - an overall improvement of 19,656 to bring the total to 553,357. Like I mentioned in October, it took exactly a year to double (280,000 in December 1992). The total increase over last quarter is almost 18% (or 84,000 machines). - CH is the one domain which shows a count almost 3,000 lower than the previous time, reason unknown. - DE has taken over first place from the UK again. - all output and history again in ftp.ripe.net:ripe/hostcount - as mentioned last month, we planned to do a worldwide hostcount using our mechanism, to compare to the Mark Lottor data. We have gathered all the data we needed for this (70 Mbytes gzipped) and are currently processing all this data (which takes a while on a simple ELC ;-) A report like Mark Lottor produces should be out sometime next week. Right now, that data seems comparable to Marks data, but there are some interesting differences. Please have some patience for these results. We will also do an address usage overview for all this data.
