Regional Internet Registry Joint Statement on ICANN Evolution and Reform
Dear all, please find a joint RIR statement on principles of RIR - ICANN interaction at http://www.ripe.net/ripencc/about/regional/rir-statement-24042002.html kind regards, Axel Pawlik Managing Director RIPE NCC
====BT: Hi Axel, Thank you for your mail. I'd like to take this opportunity to draw your attention on a completly separate topic. Subject : Ripe meetings on May 1st ! Last year already I mentioned that in a couple of countries around the world and mainly in Europe, the 1st of May is THE non working day (not only one among others, I don't want to go back to history there, I guess it should be useless). Then we had a meeting on May 1st last year -and may be the year before (to be checked) so to handle this a way a bit more respectful I strongly suggest not to do it again on next year. Just to be coherent with what I'm writing, I won't show up in A'dam next week even if important topics will be discussed -no doubt about that. I already know other people doing the same ... may be more silently. I don't expect long explanation as an answer, but hope my request will be heard and treated adequately. Thank you for your attention, +bernard Tuy. Renater --- Axel Pawlik wrote:

Bernard, no explanation. :-) We looked over the dates/venues for next year, and decided not to do the holiday weeks anymore. If it consoles you a little bit, while 1 May is not an "off work" holiday here (it still is in Germany, where I'm from), 30 April is.... Thank you for your feedback! Axel

While I understand your anger, what I have heard is that people actually have *asked* the NCC to hold this meeting in especially this week, to be able to enjoy Queen's Birthday - which happens to be on April 30th. So I, personally, consider the holidy to be moved by one day, and do not gripe :-) Gert Doering -- NetMaster -- Total number of prefixes smaller than registry allocations: 44543 SpaceNet AG Mail: netmaster@Space.Net Joseph-Dollinger-Bogen 14 Tel : +49-89-32356-0 80807 Muenchen Fax : +49-89-32356-299
