New for RIPE 78: Diversity Tickets!
Hi all, A diverse RIPE community is a strong RIPE community. For RIPE 78, we're now offering a way for you or your organisation to sponsor a "diversity ticket" to help bring someone from an underrepresented part of the community to the meeting. This is an easy and effective way to pay-it-forward and embrace the next generation of the RIPE community. You can read more about this on RIPE Labs: https://labs.ripe.net/Members/agowland/do-good-at-ripe-78-sponsor-a-diversit... Become a Diversity Sponsor for RIPE 78: https://ripe78.ripe.net/sponsors/become-a-sponsor/ We will continue to add tickets to our event on diversitytickets.org as sponsorship funds are allocated. Warm regards, Amanda Senior Communications Officer RIPE NCC

Sounds like a good thing. However: "For each EUR 1,500 sponsored, a recipient of a diversity ticket will get one full-week RIPE Meeting ticket (value EUR 350) plus EUR 650 towards travel and accommodation". So, where does the other 33% of the money go? I feel it's wrong for the NCC to keep that money as sponsorship income instead of using it to make more diversity tickets available... This should be about sponsoring diversity, not sponsoring the NCC. Cheers, Sander

Seems to me that there is a third entity here. diversitytickets.org. It might be where the 33% goes. Cheers, -- Bengt Gördén Resilans AB

Hi Sander, On 29/01/2019 12:18, Sander Steffann wrote: diversity tickets pool to start with), we wanted to use the extra money towards a pool to fund diversity tickets for future meetings as well as help towards other diversity initiatives like on-site childcare. I realise I left this out in the article, apologies for that. To clarify, diversitytickets.org does not charge us to list our event.

We agree :)

Great! Glad to hear that.

In that case: many many thanks for another great initiative! :) Sander
