(NOT a joke) The Belgian Minister for Telecommunications came up with the idea of introducing a "bitrate tax" on information transmission. A number of mainstream newspaper articles mentioned a similar initiative in the U.S. of A. (an important argument to convince adversaries !) The new tax is/was supposed to bring in between .3 and 3 billion ECU per annum. On a remotely related topic : a wellknown organisation recently asked for our advice on the perceived need for Internet regulation. <double sigh> Eric.
