Updates to RIPE NomCom and RIPE Chair Selection Process
Dear colleagues, One of the recommendations from the 2020 RIPE Nominating Committee (NomCom) was an update of the following two documents, based on the NomCom's experience with the process: 1. The RIPE Chair Selection Process (ripe-727) 2. The RIPE Nominating Committee (ripe-728) In his mail from 17 October 2022 [1], Daniel Karrenberg who has served as the chair of the 2020 RIPE NomCom, proposed some updates for both documents. These changes were also presented and discussed during the Community Plenary at RIPE 85 [2]. The draft documents are now ready for your review. 1. Updated version of ripe-727 https://www.ripe.net/publications/docs/ripe-documents/other-documents/draft-... Changes to ripe-727: - The timeline has been adjusted to be aligned with the text in ripe-728. 2. Updated version of ripe-728 https://www.ripe.net/publications/docs/ripe-documents/other-documents/draft-... Changes to ripe-728: - A wording change tightens the time for getting the NomCom organised from 60 days prior to the consultation RIPE meeting to 90 days prior. This is necessary to enable the full NomCom rather than just the NomCom chair to issue the call for nominations. - The use of a reserve list of volunteers in case voting members resign from the committee has been codified. - The timeline in the appendix has been removed (and updated in ripe-727). - The sections Acknowledgments, Appendix A (About the Authors) and Appendix G (Genesis) have been adjusted to reflect the changes in this updated version. Note: References to other ripe-docs will be updated once the documents reached consensus and will receive a new ripe-document number. If you any comments, questions, suggestions, please raise them know before 14 January 2023.
