Announcing RIPE DNS Resolver BCP Task Force
Dear colleagues, During the community plenary at RIPE 85, the idea was put forward to form a Task Force to document best practices about how to run a public DNS resolver, mainly in light of an EU proposal to create a public “European” DNS resolver (referred to as DNS4EU). You can find the draft charter on the RIPE website: https://www.ripe.net/participate/ripe/tf/dns-resolver-best-common-practice-t... We are now looking for volunteers. A number of community members already showed interest in participating during RIPE 85. If you are still interested or if you would like to put your name forward now, please let me know by 15 January 2023. Kind regards, Mirjam Kühne RIPE Chair
Hi Mirjam and all! Where was this draft charter discussed, and to where/whom do I turn to discuss it to attempt to have it rephrased? IMHO there is a better way to approach this than with what's stated in the draft version. To not clutter the list, I won't start to discuss it here unless I'm told that this is the right place. Hi Liman, Many thanks for your interest and for volunteering ;-) This proposed charter was developed together with those community members who initially came up with the idea for the task force. Typically a task force charter is reviewed and adjusted by the members of the task force before the task force starts its work. I suggest we wait until we have gathered a number of volunteers and then get together to look at the charter. In the meantime, please feel free to contact me directly with any ideas you might have. Kind regards, Mirjam On 21/12/2022 07:42, Lars-Johan Liman wrote:

Hi Mirjam! Well, if volunteering is what it takes to get this $right, then count me in. ;-) I just don't want the TF to charge ahead using the draft charter, as I would like to see this approached from a slightly different angle. To avoid cluttering this list, I'll save discussing that until "the appropriate time and place", which I interpret to be "when the TF is convened". So let's move the discussion there. :-) Cheers, /Liman mir@zu-hause.nl 2022-12-21 09:43 [+0000]:
