RIPE Accountability Task Force: Final Report
Dear colleagues, I am pleased to share the final report of the RIPE Accountability Task Force. This report has been updated to include the input received from the community after the publication of the draft version in October 2018. You can find the report here: https://www.ripe.net/participate/ripe/tf/ripe-accountability-task-force/ripe... On behalf of the Task Force, I would like to thank everyone who shared their feedback with us on the mailing list and at RIPE Meetings. We now leave this report in the hands of the RIPE community. The community should consider next steps, including reviewing the recommendations and deciding on any further action. The RIPE Chair will be responsible for coordinating this process. With the publication of this document, our work is complete, and the RIPE Accountability Task Force is disbanded. I would like to further thank all my fellow task force members for their efforts, and the RIPE NCC for the valuable support it provided as secretariat. Kind regards, William Sylvester Accountability Task Force Chair
Thank you William and all those who helped to put this together. I recommend that this report be published as a RIPE document. It is by far substantial enough and it *is* important to document RIPE history that way. Also this would make it easier to reference this work and to avoid producing dangling references in the long run. We have already achieved one of the recommendations of the previous version of this report: We achieved consensus on ripe-714 which describes the role of RIPE Chair. We are also already quite a ways into following recommendation #6 of the report: the discussion on the selection procedure for the RIPE Chair is quite advanced and I encourage everyone who is interested to follow it on <ripe-chair-discuss@ripe.net>. Personally I hope that we can make significant progress here during the meeting next week and maybe even call for consensus a few weeks after the meeting. Well done Accountability TF! Your recommendations are being worked on. Daniel
Before I get inundated with questions... ;-) The URL for the drafts on the RIPE Chair Selection Process is https://www.ripe.net/ripe/mail/archives/ripe-chair-discuss/2019-May/000254.h... The discussion is happening on that list. Daniel
Dear all, Please note that there is a BoF session scheduled next week Tuesday, 21 May 18:00 - 19:00 to further discuss the RIPE Chair selection process: Abstract: This BoF will provide time for the RIPE community to discuss the RIPE Chair selection process. The last face-to-face discussion on this topic took place during the closing plenary at RIPE 77. Based on the outcome of that discussion, a new proposal was submitted and is currently been discussed on the ripe-chair-discuss mailing list. You can access the mailing list at: https://www.ripe.net/mailman/listinfo/ripe-chair-discuss/ Kind regards, Mirjam Kühne
