Hi,
I wld like to know of procedures, used by carriers for IGP(OSPF
specifically) performance benchmarking.
If this is not the right forum for this, could you guide me to the rite one?
Thanks a lot,

It is not checked before it leaves my workstation. However, hopefully
you will find this report interesting and will take the time to look
through this to see if you can improve the amount of aggregation you
perform.
Check http://www.employees.org/~tbates/cidr-report.html for a daily
update of this report.
NEW: Check http://www.employees.org/~tbates/cidr-report-region.html for
the regional version of this report.
NEW: Check http://www.employees.org/~tbates/autnums.html for a complete
list of autonomous system number to name mappings as used by the CIDR-Report.
The report is split into sections:
0) General Status
List the route table history for the last week, list any possibly
bogus routes seen and give some status on ASes.
1) Gains by aggregating at the origin AS level
This lists the "Top 30" players who if they decided to aggregate
their announced classful prefixes at the origin AS level could
make a significant difference in the reduction of the current
size of the Internet routing table. This calculation does not
take into account the inclusion of holes when forming an aggregate
so it is possible even larger reduction should be possible.
2) Weekly Delta
A summary of the last weeks changes in terms of withdrawn and
added routes. Please note that this is only a snapshot but does
give some indication of ASes participating in CIDR. Clearly,
it is generally a good thing to see a large amont of withdrawls.
3) Interesting aggregates
Interesting here means not an aggregate made as a set of
classful routes.
Thanks to GX Networks for giving me access to their routing tables once a
day.
Please send any comments about this report directly to CIDR Report <cidr-report(a)cisco.com>.

Passive & Active Measurement: PAM 2002
Call for Papers
Fort Collins, Colorado, USA
March 25-27, 2002
PAM 2002 is a two-and-a-half day event focusing on research and practical
applications of passive and active measurement and analysis techniques
for high speed computer networks and the Internet. This third PAM
workshop follows successful PAM workshops in Hamilton, New Zealand, in
2000 and Amsterdam, in 2001.
Papers are invited from the research, provider and any other communities
on topics related to network traffic measurement. Areas of interest
include, but are not limited to:
1. 'Experience' papers, which describe practical uses of measurements,
especially in large networks.
2. Papers on modelling network traffic, in particular if they are
backed up by measurements of real traffic.
3. Papers describing network research that can be applied to existing
networks.
IMPORTANT DATES
* 28 October 2001: Deadline for abstracts
* 3 December 2001: Notification of acceptance
* 4 February 2002: Final papers due

I'd like to clarify and kindly share with you some issues coming to my
network.
I'm connected now with an upstream provider via fibre which has no ASno
because they are single-connected. Also I'm getting the Downlink via the
satellite from two providers. One of them has injected the route to internet
so at this moment as the default route for outgoing requests I use the Fibre
provider and the response comes from one of these Downlink only providers. At
this moment I need to activate the second provider. I see that I colud not
apply for ASno since my uplink provider has no ASno because it's
singel-homed, while I'm multihomed on the incoming way. How should I resolve
this issue? I need that both Downstream links from these providers to work as
an agregate or on a load-sharing/balancing way. It came to my mind if I put 2
route objects on RIPE for the same net-num and arange with both providers to
inject it on internet mesh with different or the same priority, practically
this would do BGB too if I had an ASno and announce this fact of 2 Export
routes via fibre provider which has no ASno at this moment.
Is there any advice on this particular case you can provide to me to resolve
the issue properly?
Thank you in advance for your kind help,
Rgds
Genti
