We are circulating a short survey on the operational use of BGP communities across several network-operator communities and would appreciate input from operators in the RIPE community.

The survey has five main questions:

The questions focus on aspects of BGP community usage that are difficult to infer from public BGP measurements or documentation. The survey should take about 2–3 minutes. You do not need to be a BGP communities expert, and we are also interested in networks that make little or no use of communities.

The responses will be used in aggregate to complement discussions at the Communities in the Wild workshop, co-located with ACM IMC 2026:
