Hi all, The 6th edition of SEEDIG, the Internet governance event for South East Europe, took place last week online. Although not covering the full depth and length of the event, I've shared my thoughts and impressions on a few sessions online. Dear colleagues, Are you working on or planning a non-commercial project that would benefit the Internet or the RIPE community? Apply for funding via the RIPE Community Projects Fund by 23 August: https://ripe.net/cpf For more than 25 years, the RIPE NCC has been supporting activities and projects for the “Good of the Internet”. Community-driven, non commercial work has been fundamental to the success of the Internet from its earliest days, and continues to play an important role in making the Internet resilient, secure and accessible for everyone. Under the RIPE NCC Community Projects Fund, the RIPE NCC will provide up to EUR 250,000 per year to support projects of value to the operation, sustainability and resilience of the Internet, with a focus on tools and services benefitting the technical community in the Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia. Apply now to get your project funded! If you or your organisation is working on a new or existing project that fits the criteria below, and need some financial support to get it off the ground or keep it going, we want to hear from you! Is your project of benefit to the Internet, particularly the RIPE community? Is your project non-commercial in nature? Do you have a clear project plan and timeline? RIPE81 - call for presentations

Dear SEE community, The RIPE PC is now seeking content proposals from the RIPE community for the plenary sessions, lightning talks and BoF sessions. RIPE NCC Online Events

Dear colleagues, Yesterday, we hosted an online session with members of the community about the state of the Internet in Southeast Europe. We presented highlights from the RIPE NCC’s Southeast Europe Country Report and used the data from the report to spark discussion around relevant Internet governance issues in the region. Some of the topics included: - The role of NOGs in fostering a healthy Internet - Why IPv6 deployment has stagnated in many countries in Southeast Europe - The role of local IXPs in keeping traffic local The session was not recorded, however, you can find the slides online: https://www.ripe.net/about-us/press-centre/publications/presentations/2020/… And the country report is available on RIPE Labs: https://www.ripe.net/s/seereport We’ll also be hosting two online events for members in Southeast Europe in the coming weeks, including one for our members in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 6 May, and another for our members in Serbia on 20 May. Dear SEE region community, I am running for the RIPE NCC Executive Board. Elections will be held May 13-15, each LIR can participate. I ask you to support my candidacy on the RIPE NCC website. See below for more information on how to vote. Who am I I was born in Russia, and I have been living in the Czech Republic since 2007. My interest in computers and networks first began when I was a child. I started my career in ICT during my university time: I have worked in banks, ISPs, and other IT-related companies. I have built and maintained access, corporate and service networks. At the moment, I work for an ISP and LIR in the Czech Republic, providing service to customers from around the globe. I have participated in the RIPE community since 2008. In 2010, I was a co-founder of the ENOG meetings, and in 2018, CSNOG for operators from the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Together with my colleagues, we've organised local community meetings for hundreds of people, attracting many speakers, and making the Internet better. I also take part in the different forms of Internet operators’ cooperation all over the world (every SEE meeting, many NOGs, IETF, RIR meetings, etc.). Southeast Europe Country Report and Online Discussion

Dear colleagues, Today we’ve published the latest in our series of country reports, this time shining the spotlight on Southeast Europe rather than focusing on an individual country. This is the fourth such country report that the RIPE NCC has produced as part of an ongoing effort to support Internet development throughout our service region by making our data and insights available to local technical communities and decision makers alike. The report takes stock of the current IPv4 and IPv6 resource holdings in the Southeast European region, looks at the history of development of the Internet industry, and assesses its opportunity for future growth. We also examine the region’s access to the global Domain Name System (DNS), look at how traffic is exchanged within the region, and identify the different paths and operators providing access from the rest of the world.
