[Apologies for duplicate emails] Dear Colleagues, We are pleased to announce that Wilfried Woeber has been selected by the RIPE NCC Executive Board to take the vacant seat on the Number Resource Organization (NRO) Number Council (NC) for the RIPE NCC service region. He will serve a three-year term beginning 1 January 2009. The selection was announced during the Closing Plenary session on Thursday, 30 October 2008, at the RIPE 57 Meeting in Dubai. RIPE NCC General Meeting October 2008

Dear Colleagues, The RIPE NCC General Meeting (GM) October 2008 was held Tuesday, 28 October 2008, adjacent to the RIPE 57 Meeting, at the JW Marriott Hotel in Dubai. There were 52 attendees excluding RIPE NCC staff and observers from the other Regional Internet Registries. The RIPE NCC members approved the following four formal resolutions at the GM: - "The General Meeting adopts the RIPE NCC Charging Scheme 2009" - "The General Meeting adopts the RIPE NCC End User Assignment Agreement" - "The General Meeting adopts the RIPE NCC Charging Scheme 2008Addendum effective upon adoption" - "The General Meeting supports the RIPE NCC Executive Board's ratification of the RIPE NCC Supporter Agreement and welcomes supporters to attend future General Meetings" The RIPE NCC would like to thank its membership for the input and support given at the General Meeting. Dear Colleagues, On Tuesday, 28 October 2008, a reminder email with a link to the 2008 Membership Survey will be sent to LIR contacts. The mail will be sent by the industry market research firm, TNS NIPO, and the sender address will be <webint(a)tns-nipo.com>. We ask that you please take the time to read the instructions in the email and complete the survey. The survey will remain available until Friday, 14 November 2008. The goal of the survey is to give all members the opportunity to voice their opinions and provide input on the RIPE NCC and the services it offers. This feedback will be used to help the RIPE NCC evaluate its current operations and plan future services and developments. TNS NIPO will conduct the 2008 RIPE NCC Membership Survey independently from the RIPE NCC. All individual responses will go directly to TNS NIPO and will remain anonymous to the RIPE NCC. RIPE NCC Services Centre ------------------------ RIPE NCC members and non-members are welcome to visit the RIPE NCC Services Centre, where representatives from the RIPE NCC's Billing and Registration Services departments are available to answer questions. Dear Colleagues, To ensure that the RIPE NCC continues to meet its members' needs, the RIPE NCC will launch its 2008 RIPE NCC Membership Survey this week. The RIPE NCC has commissioned the industry market research firm, TNS NIPO, to conduct this independent survey. On Wednesday, 15 October 2008, an email with a link to the 2008 Membership Survey will be sent to the LIR contact email address provided for each LIR. The survey can only be completed by following the instructions in the email. We ask that you please take the time to read the email and complete the survey. The survey will remain available until Friday, 14 November 2008. Dear RIPE NCC member, The RIPE NCC Autumn General Meeting (GM) 2008 will be held on Tuesday, 28 October 2008 from 16:00-19:00. It will be held adjacent to the RIPE 57 Meeting, which takes place from 26-30 October 2008 at the JW Marriott Hotel in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. REGISTRATION ------------------------ The closing date for online registration is *tomorrow, Tuesday, 14 October 2008*. You must register for the GM separately from the RIPE 57 Meeting. As a member, you can attend the RIPE NCC Services Working Group session and the members-only section of the GM without being registered for RIPE 57. See below for further information on the RIPE NCC Services Working Group session. You can register for the GM online at: https://lirportal.ripe.net/lirportal/meeting/registration-general/meeting.h… In the event that your organisation is to be represented by a director or an authorised employee, the registration form should state the name(s) of the employee(s) or director(s). If more than one authorised person is to attend the GM, please specify on the registration form who is allowed to exercise the voting rights. PROXY VOTING ------------------------- The closing date for submitting proxy voting forms is *tomorrow, Tuesday, 14 October 2008*. If your organisation is to be represented by a third party, not being an authorised employee or director, please fill out the proxy form and send it to us by 14 October 2008. The Report from the RIPE NCC presentation will not be repeated in the members-only section of the GM. VOTING AND RESOLUTIONS -------------------------------------------- Candidate members are welcome to attend the GM but are not permitted to vote according to article 16.7 of the RIPE NCC Articles of Association. Full members who are not able to attend the GM but still want to vote can do so by means of proxy voting as per article 16. Please also note that the GM can only pass resolutions that have been submitted and published according to article 15 of the RIPE NCC Articles of Association.
