Dear RIPE NCC members, The RIPE NCC Executive Board held its 147th Meeting on 10 and 19 August. The minutes from the meeting are now available: https://www.ripe.net/about-us/executive-board/minutes/2021/minutes-147th-ex… The Executive Board publishes the minutes of its meetings so that the workings of the Board and the decisions it makes are transparent for the membership that it represents. The following is a summary of the main items from the meeting. Further details are available in the minutes. The entire meeting was concerned with developments in the AFRINIC region. I have also published an article on RIPE Labs on the AFRINIC situation that references these minutes: https://labs.ripe.net/author/hans_petter_holen/supporting-the-internet-numb… - Athina Fragkouli gave an extensive summary of the legal proceedings that AFRINIC is involved in - The Board agreed that the RIPE NCC wants to support AFRINIC and ensure the stability of the RIR system. - The following resolution was adopted unanimously by the Board: "The RIPE NCC Executive Board authorises the RIPE NCC Managing Director to review and act on behalf of the RIPE NCC on any request for the activation of the RIR Joint Stability Fund, in case such request is formally submitted by AFRINIC within a three month period from the date of this resolution and according to the process described here: https://www.nro.net/accountability/rir-accountability/joint-rir-stability-f…. Further, the RIPE NCC Executive Board allows for RIR activities that are related to AFRINIC operations to qualify for support from this Fund, provided that this is formally requested by AFRINIC." Dear colleagues, On behalf of our Executive Board, I invite you to register for the RIPE NCC General Meeting (GM) November 2021. You can register to participate and vote at: https://my.ripe.net/#/meetings/active The GM will take place from 24 - 26 November online, adjacent to the RIPE 83 meeting. The meeting will start at the earlier time of 16:30 (UTC+1) on 24 November, with the results being announced at 10:15 (UTC+1) on 26 November. To participate you can follow the GM via livestream, participate via chat and vote on resolutions electronically. The GM gives members an opportunity to discuss the operations and activities of the RIPE NCC. At the upcoming GM, we invite you to discuss, among other things: - The Draft RIPE NCC Activity Plan and Budget 2022 - Redistribution of the RIPE NCC surplus/deficit to the membership (to be voted on) - Reports from the RIPE NCC Executive Board and RIPE NCC Management - Discussion on the RIPE NCC Charging Scheme principles All supporting documents will be posted and announced to the membership by 27 October 2021. Dear RIPE NCC members, The survey on principles the RIPE NCC should apply to its charging scheme model will run until next Tuesday, 14 September. We kindly ask all members who have not yet taken it to do so by the closing date. We would also like to thank over 500 members who have so far participated. [service] Automated Mails Sent in Error

Dear colleagues, Earlier today, a software change caused us to unintentionally send an automated email to 98 members which informed them that we had terminated their Standard Service Agreement (SSA), and blocked their access to the LIR Portal for a short period of time. We are contacting these members to apologise and inform them that this was an error on our part and reassure them that their SSAs remain valid. Dear colleagues, The RIPE NCC together with the SEE Programme Committee have decided that the SEE 9 Meeting will take place as a virtual meeting with a reduced programme on 28 September 2021. While we were looking forward to seeing you all in Ljubljana, we feel this is necessary to protect the health of all attendees and RIPE NCC staff. The situation around COVID-19 is still too uncertain and the risks appear too great to justify a physical meeting. We hope things will get better soon and that we will be able to meet in person for a physical SEE 10 Meeting in 2022. [Service] RIPE NCC Services Outage

Dear RIPE NCC members, At 11:30 (UTC+2) this morning, there were various RIPE NCC service outages. Some public facing services were affected. This included the rsync RPKI Repository and RIPE Database, our website www.ripe.net and other RIPE NCC websites such as the RIPE Meeting site, RIPE Labs and RIPEstat. There were also intermittent failures sending notification emails for Whois updates. Services were restored by 12:00 (UTC+2). Based on the information gathered so far, the outages were caused by a recent upgrade to our configuration management system, which in turn caused a race condition that affected the configuration of a number of servers.
