RIPE NCC Returns Legacy Address Space to IANA

Dear colleagues, On 6 May 2012, the ICANN Board ratified GPP-IPv4-2011, "Global Policy for Post Exhaustion IPv4 Allocation Mechanisms" by IANA. This global policy enables IANA to redistribute any recovered IPv4 address space equally amongst the RIRs. Following the ratification of this global policy, on 22 May 2012 the RIPE NCC returned to IANA the 1,368,576 legacy IPv4 addresses that have been returned to the RIPE NCC and plans to return any other legacy IPv4 address space that is returned to the organisation in the future. Scheduled Maintenance on RIPE Database Update Server - 10 May, at 14:00 UTC

[Apologies for duplicate emails] Dear colleagues, On Thursday, 10 May at 14:00 UTC (16:00 CEST), we will migrate the update service to a new server as part of our RIPE Database infrastructure upgrade. We expect the migration to take up to four hours. Part of this migration requires us to reload both the live and test database contents onto the new server. ----------------------------------- No changes during migration window ----------------------------------- No changes can be made to the RIPE Database or TEST Database during the migration. This includes the use of Syncupdates, Webupdates, RESTful API and the use of object editors provided through the LIR Portal. ----------------------------------- Hold off on sending email updates ----------------------------------- We also kindly request that you hold off on sending updates to the email update service (<auto-dbm(a)ripe.net>, <test-dbm(a)ripe.net>) during the migration window to allow us to make a clean restart of the new server and perform significant testing before processing any live updates. If any updates are sent to the email update service, they will be queued and run following the migration. If you do submit email updates during this time we recommend that you check the results later. ---------------------------------- RIPE Database queries unaffected ---------------------------------- Querying the RIPE Database will not be affected as this service is completely separated from the update service. RIPE NCC General Meeting April 2012

Dear members, The RIPE NCC General Meeting (GM) was held 18-19 April 2012 adjacent to the RIPE 64 Meeting in Ljubljana. There were 99 attendees, excluding RIPE NCC staff and observers from the other Regional Internet Registries (RIRs). There were two resolutions to be voted on at the GM. The results of voting on the resolutions were as follows: Resolution 1: The General Meeting adopts the 2011 Financial Report of the RIPE NCC. Yes 270 No 5 Abstain 28 Resolution 2: The General Meeting discharges the Executive Board with regard to its actions as they appear from the Annual Report 2011. Yes 244 No 12 Abstain 45 There was also an election to fill one seat on the RIPE NCC Executive Board. The results of the election were as follows: First Count: Dmitry Burkov 174 Ulf Kieber 85 Dmitry Kohmanyuk 44 Dmitry Burkov was elected and retained his seat on the Executive Board. Using this form, you can now easily report various issues, including abnormalities in Internet number resource registrations, to us for further investigation. By making it easy to report these issues to us and by putting a clear process in place, we aim to work together with you to further improve the quality of the data in the Internet number resource registry. The first release of the form offers basic functionality. We will review the form, its usage and your feedback before deciding whether further development is needed in the future. Draft RIPE NCC Annual Report 2011 Now Available

Dear members, In advance of the RIPE NCC General Meeting (GM) April 2012, the Draft RIPE NCC Annual Report 2011 is now available: https://www.ripe.net/lir-services/ncc/gm/april-2012/supporting-documents/ The GM takes place on Wednesday, 18 April 2012 at the Grand Union Hotel in Ljubljana, Slovenia. All members who opted to receive a printed copy of the Annual Report 2011 will be sent a copy in May 2012. RIPE NCC Executive Board Nominations ------------------------------------- In compliance with the RIPE NCC Articles of Association, the RIPE NCC is calling for nominations to the RIPE NCC Executive Board. Voting for the appointment of one RIPE NCC Executive Board member will take place at the GM. The vacant seat is for one three-year term. The deadline for nominations is next Wednesday, 28 March 2012.
