Dear RIPE NCC member, In compliance with the RIPE NCC Articles of Association, the RIPE NCC is calling for nominations to the RIPE NCC Executive Board. The nomination period is open until 15 April 2009. The vacant seat is for a three-year term and is to fill the place currently held by Dmitry Burkov, whose term expires in May 2009. Voting for the appointment of the RIPE NCC Executive Board member will take place at the upcoming RIPE NCC General Meeting (GM). The GM consists of two parts: * The RIPE NCC Services Working Group session begins at 16:00 and includes the presentation of the Report from the RIPE NCC. This part of the GM is open to everyone. * The second part of the GM follows immediately after the RIPE NCC Services WG session and is only open to RIPE NCC members who have registered for the GM. This part of the meeting is the forum where RIPE NCC members can discuss the operations and activities of the RIPE NCC and exercise their voting rights. Implementation of ASPLAIN Format

[Apologies for duplicates] Dear Colleagues, With the publication of RFC 5396, the IETF has standardised the representation of all Autonomous System (AS) Numbers in the ASPLAIN format. This covers both 16-bit and 32-bit AS Numbers. The previous ASDOT format is now obsolete. The RIPE NCC plans to start using the ASPLAIN format by the end of March 2009. From that time, any AS Numbers or references must be in the ASPLAIN format. The old ASDOT format will no longer be accepted in RIPE NCC services such as the LIR Portal and the RIPE Database. In order to ensure a smooth transition, any data in the RIPE Database containing an ASDOT AS Number will be converted by the RIPE NCC using the one-to-one mapping that exists between the two formats. Exact details of this conversion will be published closer to the actual date. The RIPE NCC has also provided a test database using the converted software and containing a copy of the RIPE Database. The AS Numbers in this copied data have been converted to ASPLAIN. This seat is currently held by Dave Wodelet, whose term expires in May 2009. This change will require that an End User have a contractual relationship with a sponsoring LIR or the RIPE NCC before the End User can receive Internet number resources (Autonomous System (AS) Number, Provider Independent (PI) IPv4 and IPv6, Internet Exchange Point (IXP) and anycasting assignments) directly from the RIPE NCC. RIPE NCC Membership Survey 2008 Results Online

Dear Colleagues, The RIPE NCC commissioned the market research firm TNS NIPO to carry out the Membership Survey 2008 on its behalf from 17 September - 25 November 2008. The purpose of the survey was to give the RIPE NCC's membership a formal opportunity to voice opinions on the services provided by the RIPE NCC, and to give constructive input to help us plan development of our services. There were a total of 771 respondents to the survey. The results of the survey, as well as a synopsis of the results, are now available and can be found at: http://www.ripe.net/membership/survey/ I wish to thank the members of the community who provided valuable feedback. Any organisation or individual can become a RIPE NCC supporter. You do not have to be a member of the RIPE NCC to show your support. Supporters can attend General Meetings but do not have any voting rights and cannot request Internet number resources or related member services from the RIPE NCC.
