Dear colleagues, On 29 September 2016, we announced that we simplified user management in the LIR Portal while making communication with the RIPE NCC more secure for our members: https://www.ripe.net/ripe/mail/archives/ncc-announce/2016-September/001093.… We requested that an administrator for your LIR account go through a migration wizard to ensure there is a single list of authorised user accounts. If you have not yet done this, please migrate as soon as possible: https://my.ripe.net/#/contacts On 1 April 2017, we will remove any remaining LIR Contacts that have not been migrated. After that, these contacts will no longer be able to communicate with the RIPE NCC on the LIR's behalf - only people with an authorised user account will be able to. For most interactions with the RIPE NCC, such as requesting or transferring resources, a user account with LIR Portal access is required already. Administrators can always create a user account at any point if necessary. If the administrator for your LIR account does not currently have access to the LIR Portal, please see instructions here on how to get access: https://lirportal.ripe.net/getting_started If you have any questions about migrating your contacts or about your LIR account, please contact <ncc(a)ripe.net>. [news] RIPE NCC Welcomes 15,000th LIR

Dear colleagues, Today we welcome our 15,000th Local Internet Registry (LIR) to join the RIPE NCC. This comes after several years of intense growth across our service region — it was less than three years ago that we reached 10,000 LIRs. Coincidentally, this latest milestone comes as we are completing the move to our new office location in Amsterdam. Our membership is changing as it grows. LIRs are increasingly being created by “non-traditional” industrial, financial and manufacturing entities that are showing greater interest in managing their own technical infrastructure. We are pleased to welcome these new LIRs on board and recognise that additional outreach efforts may be needed to explain the bottom-up process and encourage their participation within the RIPE community. This is reflected in our recently-published Activity Plan and Budget 2017, where we have placed an emphasis on member outreach in the coming year. Another focus will be ensuring that these new LIRs are aware of the range of tools and services we provide to support them in their work, something that was identified as an area for improvement in the RIPE NCC Survey 2016 results. [news] RIPE NCC Activity Plan and Budget 2017 Published

Dear colleagues, We are pleased to announce that the RIPE NCC Activity Plan and Budget 2017 is now available. This definitive document has been approved by the RIPE NCC Executive Board with input from the RIPE NCC membership. It outlines the work we will undertake in the coming year and the associated costs for each activity. The document is available at: https://www.ripe.net/publications/docs/ripe-671 Based on developments over the past few months, feedback the Executive Board received from the membership at the General Meeting (GM) and through other feedback mechanisms, changes have been made since the draft Activity Plan and Budget was introduced in September. In order to make members aware of all updates, a new appendix has been added to the document, outlining the changes introduced. These changes include: - The Resource Certification activity has been updated to include the purchase of new Hardware Signing Modules - The LISP EID Registry has changed to “expanding” and the text has been updated to reflect that this has now been implemented - Text has been added on RIPE Meeting Fellowships that will be available in 2017 - “Community Projects Fund” has been renamed “Good of the Internet” and has been split into four component activities There is a total additional budget of 61 kEUR for the following Operational Expenditures: - 20 kEUR for RIPE Meeting Fellowships - 55 kEUR budget for in-region travel to attend, host and facilitate meetings in the RIPE NCC service region - 55 kEUR for HR consultancy - A reduction of 69 kEUR as a result of decreases in personnel, housing, office costs, marketing and contributions There is additional budget for the following Capital Expenditures: - 150 kEUR under Resource Certification for the purchase of new Hardware Signing Modules The draft Activity Plan and Budget 2017 was discussed during the GM on 26 October 2016. NEW INVOICING PROCESS FOR 2017 We are currently preparing the invoicing process for 2017 and we expect to send the first invoice in the second half of January. These details are available through the LIR Portal and will be made available to the billing contacts of the LIR. LIRs will be able to copy the list to the clipboard or download it as a csv. RIPE ATLAS PROBE DEPLOYMENT WIDGET We developed a new widget in RIPEstat that allows you to follow the RIPE Atlas probe distribution in a country over time. Select a country or country code on stat.ripe.net, then choose "Activity" on the left hand side, and you will find this new widget at the bottom of the page.
