But what if we could reduce the work and concentrate on one IPv6 address per interconnection? Turns out, we already can. This article sheds some light on the practical implementation of RFC8950 at IXPs. https://labs.ripe.net/author/grueneberg/saving-ipv4-addresses-on-interconnec... – RIPE PDP Update Policy proposal 2026-01 "Simplify assignment of first ASN" advanced to the Review Phase. This proposal aims to remove the needs assessment for the first AS Number requested by holders of an IP address prefix allocated or assigned directly by the RIPE NCC. This proposal has been updated and it is now at version 2.0. The main difference from version 1.0 is that the routing policy should be documented in the RIPE Database when the AS number received without providing a justification is in use. Please provide your feedback on the Address Policy Working Group mailing list before 10 November 2026. https://www.ripe.net/community/policies/proposals/2026-01/ https://www.ripe.net/membership/mail/ripe-mailing-lists/address-policy-wg/ Policy Proposal 2026-02 "Contractual Accountability Framework for Infrastructure-Level Network Abuse" has been submitted for Discussion. This proposal suggests a contractual mechanism to hold resource holders accountable for systematically failing to address infrastructure-level network abuse. Please provide your feedback on the Security Working Group before 11 November 2026. https://www.ripe.net/community/policies/proposals/2026-02/ https://www.ripe.net/membership/mail/ripe-mailing-lists/security-wg/ Policy Proposal 2026-03 "Clarifying Audit and Policy Compliance Frameworks for IPv6 policies" has been submitted for Discussion. The goal of this proposal is to clarify the existing requirements for the IPv6 post-provisioning lifecycle, while also aligning the text with IPv4 policies. Please provide your feedback on the Address Policy Working Group mailing list before 17 November 2026. https://www.ripe.net/community/policies/proposals/2026-03/ https://www.ripe.net/membership/mail/ripe-mailing-lists/address-policy-wg/ – RIPE NCC Members: Review Your Information Before the End of the Year Ensure your billing information is up to date before we send invoices in January 2027. Please verify your details in the LIR Portal to avoid reminders or closure warnings. * Update your info: https://my.ripe.net/ * Estimate your 2027 costs: https://pricing.ripe.net/ * 2027 Charging Scheme: https://www.ripe.net/publications/docs/ripe-867/ *LIR Account Closure* To avoid being invoiced for 2027, submit a complete and valid LIR closure request before 31 December 2026. For closures linked to transfers or changes in business structure, please include all required documentation and clearly confirm your intent to close the account. Note: Resources must be transferable at the time of request. IPv6 allocation transfers may require additional evaluation. If there is no real need, consider excluding the IPv6 resource from the transfer and returning it to the free pool. *Sponsoring Independent Resources* If your organisation sponsors independent resources, please review them. https://apps.db.ripe.net/db-web-ui/myresources/overview?sponsored If you no longer have a contract with any sponsored party, please submit a Stop Sponsorship request before 31 December 2026 to avoid being charged related fees as we can only process requests submitted via the form. https://my.ripe.net/#/generic-request/requestType For other questions, contact billing@ripe.net 2. Technology – RIPE Database Update Since RIPE 92, there were three major improvements/updates to the RIPE Database: *RIPE Database Authentication Update* We have introduced OIDC authentication on the RIPE Database website, replacing the previous Crowd cookie. https://apps.db.ripe.net/db-web-ui/ *My Resources Improvements* A new tree view and resource checks make it easier to review resources requiring attention. https://apps.db.ripe.net/db-web-ui/myresources/overview *RIPE Database Version History* Users can now view and compare previous versions of selected database objects on the query page. https://apps.db.ripe.net/db-web-ui/query And here are the current proposed changes: *Proposed RIPE-NONAUTH Database Cleanup* We propose removing objects with matching valid ROAs or entries in other RIR databases. Community feedback is welcome. https://mailman.ripe.net/archives/list/db-wg@ripe.net/thread/ISGZPSLB2ZVGH7W... *Planned Cleanup of IANA1-RIPE References* We plan to contact affected users to correct 166 database objects referencing IANA1-RIPE. https://mailman.ripe.net/archives/list/db-wg@ripe.net/ – New RIPE Atlas Anchor Mesh Status Feature The RIPE Atlas Team has introduced Anchor Mesh Status, allowing users to explore changes in latency and packet loss between RIPE Atlas anchors over time.
