Dear all, There seems to be a degree of ambiguity regarding our request for sponsors for RIPE 28 as is shown in a received mail below. Obviously I should choose my words more carefully :-). * > -Sponsers are urgently seeked to sponser lunch(s) and/or refreshments. * * I'd prefer Grolsch or Amstel over CocaCola, and a good A'dam based * Indonesian restaurant over McPlastics ;-) * To clarify matters we are *not* looking for donations of actual food and drink or sponsorship from companies such as CocaCola etc. We are looking for sponsorship from organisations preferably within our own RIPE community, or who have links with the RIPE community. The sponsership should take the form of financial donation which would be used to pay for particular catering needs. These catering details would be organised by the NCC. Dear All, As announced earlier, the 28th RIPE meeting will be held in Amsterdam from 24 untill 26 September 1997 at the Park Plaza in Amsterdam, the Netherlands . Included below is some info on hotels and obtaining VISA. HOTELS ------ We would like to inform you that the hotels in Amsterdam usually get booked quite fast in September, so you should be quick to make a reservation. RIPE 28 Meeting details

Dear all, On 9 Jul it was annouced that the 28th RIPE meeting would take place in Amsterdam from 24-26 September inclusive. This mail aims to confirm and add some more detail to that announcement. The meeting will be held in the 'Park Plaza' which is a building in the centre of Amsterdam. More details of the building, its exact address and directions of how to get there can be found on our web site <http://www.ripe.net/meetings/rip e/mtg.html>. RIPE meetings have traditionaly been held in academic accomodation whereby a subsidized level of location hire has been available. Unfortunately due to a combination of fuly booked university space and the growing size of the RIPE meeting itself, a commercial alternative has had to be found. This alternative being the 'Park Plaza'. The cost of holding a RIPE meeting in a commercial location is significant and these costs have to be recouped. To that end the admission charge to the RIPE meeting from now on will be 100 ECU (price including refreshments and lunch on all 3 days, but excluding the RIPE dinner). This charge will cover the location hire costs but will not cover the catering costs. Therefore we are urgently seeking sponsers who are willing to sponser a lunch(s) and/or refreshments. Potential sponsers are requested to get in contact with myself (Paul Ridley) in order to receive more information as to what would be desired and what the sponser could get in return. Dear all, As someone pointed out correctly Germany did not show the highest increase in July as I said in my previous mail. The table shows an increase since last month of more than 100,000 (or 2.2%) to a total of over 4,800,000 hosts in the DNS in Europe and surrounding areas. DE shows the highest increase for July with almost 30,000 hosts more than in June. The hostcount can also be found under ftp://ftp.ripe.net/ripe/hostcount.
