Hello, I hope this is the right list for my question, otherwise please sent me a notice. I contacted my ISP (=Online in Belgium) for 4 IP addresses. Some months ago we got one fixed IP, but we need some more now. The 'commercial manager' of my ISP responded that I have to pay 3000Bfr/year (this is approx. 80$/year) for one IP. It already sounded very weird to me that they charged that fee for non-commercial groups like us, so I wondered if this is 1) legally 2) too much 3) fraud I can totally agree if they ask a one-time setup (registration cost) and perhaps some little annual costs, but this is just too much for us IMHO. Another thing I'd like to ask about: Everytime I want to order some new IP-addresses, my ISP says that they'll also have to change my old fixed IP's into new ones. Is this just a normal procedure, or is this some kind of backdoor to fraud? How can I check that my ISP registered those IP's under my name and contact, and not under their's? PGP Keysigning BOF @ Ripe36

We will have a PGP keysigning event at the Ripe 36 meeting. Please see http://www.koerber.org/ripe36 for details. Yes: I have just installed GPG 1.01 and should be able to handle GPG keys. Mathias Koerber PS: As I have not managed to get a reading software going, I would like to plead for 2 or 3 additional 'readers' to help read the keys out loud. These would only be required if we get more than 30 keys or so. They should have clear diction and a loud voice. The event will be on Thursdat at 17:00 after the plenary, before the buses pick us up for dinner.

RIPE Region Hostcount for April 2000

The table shows an increase since last month of around 270,000 (or 2.5%) to a total of over 11,175,000 hosts in the DNS in Europe and surrounding areas. The 'it' domain shows the highest increase for April with approximately 320,000 hosts more than in March. ** Apologies for duplicate messages ** Important Public Announcement CHANGES IN APNIC ADDRESS POLICY If you ingress filter on any of the following APNIC address ranges - 61/8, 202/7, or 210/7 - then please note the following important changes to APNIC address policy which were approved at the recent APNIC Member Meeting in March, in Seoul, Korea. * APNIC will lower its initial minimum allocation from a /19 to a /20 (this will apply across all address ranges held by APNIC). * APNIC will begin making allocations from network 61/8 as routine allocations from its total address pool. These policy changes will take effect three months from this announcement, on 4 August 2000.
