Invitation to the Internet Numbers Community to Participate as Observers in the ASO AC and IANA RC Teleconferences

This message is sent on behalf of the Number Resource Organization (NRO). *** The ASO[1] is one of ICANN’s three Supporting Organizations. They review and develop recommendations on Internet Protocol (IP) address policy and advise the ICANN Board on policy issues relating to the operation, assignment, and management of IP addresses. The ASO Address Council (ASO AC)[2] hold monthly teleconferences, usually on the first Wednesday of each month, with exceptions to avoid clashes with Regional Internet Registry meetings and other meetings relevant to the Internet Numbers Community. Likewise, the IANA Review Committee (IANA RC)[3] advises the NRO EC in its annual review of the service level of the IANA Numbering Services provided to the Regional Internet Registries. The IANA RC hold three or four teleconference meetings each year, on dates agreed by the members to prepare their annual report. Update on the RIPE Code of Conduct TF

Dear RIPE Community, We last gave an update on our progress in October: - https://www.ripe.net/ripe/mail/archives/ripe-list/2020-October/001978.html As a reminder: the Code of Conduct TF was established after a call for volunteers in September and we have been meeting every two weeks. We are chartered to produce three documents: 1. A Code of Conduct (CoC) for all RIPE activities 2. A process for selecting a CoC Team 3. Reporting and operational procedures for the CoC Team In our October update, we said that we intended to publish an updated draft CoC in November (with the remaining two documents to come later). While we are almost ready to publish our draft, we needed time to review the recent GM vote to apply the RIPE CoC to Executive Board elections. We wanted to consider whether this would place additional burdens on the yet-to-be-formed CoC Team. We have now established that while the RIPE NCC Executive Board might decide to use the RIPE CoC for its elections, this would be a separate implementation from the community's. We now expect that we will be ready to publish an updated draft RIPE Code of Conduct on this list in January. Based on the community's feedback, the TF will then evaluate whether further updates are needed, or if we can ask the RIPE Chair Team to determine whether there is consensus on the document. RIPE 82 will be a Virtual Meeting, 17-21 May 2021

Dear colleagues, We decided, together with the RIPE NCC, that RIPE 82 will take place as a virtual meeting from 17-21 May 2021. While we were looking forward to seeing you all in Berlin, we feel this is necessary to protect the health of all attendees and RIPE NCC staff. The situation around COVID-19 is still too uncertain and the risks appear too great to justify a physical meeting. We hope things will get better soon and that we will be able to meet in person for a physical RIPE 83. That being said, we received positive feedback about people’s virtual experience at RIPE 81 and we are already working behind the scenes to make RIPE 82 even better. In addition, we have noticed the most common RIPE database issues flagged by the community in both the 2019 RIPE NCC and the 2020 RDBTF surveys can be summarized into two interrelated categories: data accuracy, and ease-of-use. 2. Suggested solutions from the community have been to enforce validation and data checks, and upgrades to the user interface and search functionality. What do you think are the causes of these issues? This message is sent on behalf of the Number Resource Organization (NRO). *** Nomination Period Extended - ASO AC Call for Nominations for Seat 9 on the ICANN Board of Directors The ASO AC has announced today it has extended its deadline for the nomination period for the selection of Seat 9 on the ICANN Board of Directors. Nominations will now close on Sunday 22 November at 23:59 UTC. The selected candidate will serve for a three-year term, which will begin at the conclusion of the ICANN Annual General Assembly at the ICANN 72 Meeting, scheduled from 23-28 October 2021. The election process is described below. Eligibility Requirements ------------------------ All nominated candidates must meet the selection criteria and conflict of interest requirements as outlined in Article 7 of the ICANN Bylaws[1]. The nominated candidates will undergo a due diligence review by an independent ICANN contractor. Nomination Process ------------------ Community members are invited to submit nominations by email to nominations [at] aso [dot] icann [dot] org by Sunday, 22 November 2020 at 23:59 UTC.
