The table shows an increase since last month of over 515,000 (or 3.9%) to a total of around 13,200,000 hosts in the DNS in Europe and surrounding areas. The nl domain shows the highest increase for February with approximately 170,000 more hosts than in January. | Is this being requsted as a ccTLD or as gTLD? If ccTLD - it breaks the | existing model of ccTLDs limited to countries or islands and not | representing regions. This is just a manifestation of the European Union as a proper state, which obviously some people will accept with fewer reservations than others. If one can accept that the EU has competence in other international bodies as a state or state-like entity, then .EU as a ccTLD seems straightforward. Sean.

Hi All, The .EU domain name, sought from ICANN by the European Commission, has been in discussion for over a year now. To date no Charter has been proposed for the name and Commission representatives have indicated that policy should come through dialogue with the European Internet Community. In an attempt to move this process on I have produced a draft Charter for an .EU Policy Oversight Committee which is visible in English, French and German at www.eupoc.org. I would be most grateful for suggestions for improvement of this document and also for your support for the principle of involvement of the wider Internet community in policy matters. There is a support page on the site. I hope an improved version of this Charter will be discussed at the EC-POP meeting in Brussels on March 1st 2001. Thank you for your attention. Dear All, below is the hostcount for January 2001. The table shows an decrease since last month of around 35,000 (or 0.3%) to a total of nearly 12,690,000 hosts in the DNS in Europe and surrounding areas. The de domain shows the highest increase for January with approximately 120,000 hosts more than in December 2000. Vaio power supply "chris" switched

Chris, Today I attended the IPv6 working group meeting at RIPE 38. I left my power supply in the room during the coffee break. When I returned and tried to reconnect I could not find my power supply again. I used another one in the same outlet. It has "chris" on it. I suppose you took mine instead of yours. Could we please switch them again (you will understand why :-). I will be at the meeting the whole week. Thanks, rvdp This is a test message. Sent for some tests and maintenance of our software.

RIPE Region Hostcount for December 2000

Dear All, below is the hostcount for December 2000. The table shows an increase since November of over 630,000 (or 5.2%) to a total of about 12,700,000 hosts in the DNS in Europe and surrounding areas. The ru domain shows the highest increase for December with approximately 250,000 hosts more than in November.
