APRICOT 2024: Call for Programme Committee Volunteers

Hi everyone. The APRICOT 2024 Organising Committee would like to welcome everyone to join us in Bangkok, Thailand, from 21st February to 1st March 2024. The APRICOT 2024 Programme Committee is responsible for the solicitation and selection of suitable presentation and tutorial content for the APRICOT 2024 conference (https://2024.apricot.net/). We are now seeking nominations from the community to join the APRICOT 2024 PC to assist with the development of the programme for APRICOT 2024. Eligible PC candidates must have attended recent APRICOT events, have broad technical knowledge of Internet operations, and have good familiarity with the format of APRICOT. Having constructive opinions and ideas about how the programme content might be improved is of high value too. PC members are expected to work actively to solicit content and review submissions for technical merit. The PC meets by conference call, weekly in frequency during the three months prior to APRICOT. If you are interested in joining the PC and meet the above eligibility criteria, please send a brief note to "pc-chairs at apricot.net". The note must include affiliation (if any) and a brief description about why you would make a good addition to the PC. The PC Chairs will accept nominations received by 17:00 UTC+8 on Friday 20th October 2023, and will announce the new PC shortly thereafter. Many thanks! Notice to the ASO Community on ICANN Board Decisions: Approval of Fundamental Bylaws Amendments and Rejection Action Petition Period

Dear colleagues, This message is sent on behalf of the Number Resource Organization (NRO) --------------------- The ICANN Secretary would like all constituents of the Address Supporting Organization to be informed about the delivery of the following ICANN Board decisions: - Fundamental amendments in articles 18 and 19 of the ICANN Bylaws related to the IANA Naming Function Reviews and the IANA Naming Function Separation Process. This triggers the convention and conclusion of an Approval Action Community Forum between 15 September and 15 October 2023 or during the next scheduled ICANN public meeting (ICANN78). Please note that the Approval Action Community Forum is convened at the direction of the EC Administration (ECA). - Standard amendments in articles 8, 12 and 27 of the ICANN Bylaws related to the composition and terms of the ICANN NomCom (Article 8 with a transition article and article 27), the implementation of the NomCom Standing Committee (Article 8) and change in how the RSSAC is selected (Article 12). Under the ICANN Bylaws, the Empowered Community now has the opportunity to consider whether it will reject the Board’s approval. This petition period will end on 6 October 2023 at 23:59 PDT. Second Call for Presentation for RIPE87

Dear colleagues, The RIPE Programme Committee (PC) is now opening the second call for presentations seeking for content proposals from the RIPE community for the plenary sessions, lightning talks and BoFs. RIPE87 is going to be a hybrid meeting so both in-person and virtual presentations would be accepted and encouraged. The deadline to submit a presentation proposal is 23rd of October 2023. Proposals submitted after this date will only be considered if there are still time slots available. Already submitted presentations which have not received an acceptance or rejection notification yet are still under consideration. EC BYLAW REFORMS PASSED

It’s been a wild ride since I started this in February. I’d like to let the communities know that with incredible honour, I can report that all EC bylaws passed with a large percentage. When this started even APNIC told me this is likely an impossible task, but many of you came to the table to help rally the cause and we have had a momentous victory for the safety and stability of our RIR system.
