RIPE 78 Highlights - Day 2

Dear colleagues, The second day of RIPE 78 saw 664 attendees checked in at the meeting venue in Reykjavik. There was a full day of plenary presentations, including sessions on DDoS attacks, DNS and the KSK rollover and more. The Women in Tech Session saw a lively panel discussion on the still-prevalent gender pay gap and the efforts Iceland has made for women’s rights. The social networking event took place at Whales of Iceland. RIPE 78 Highlights - Day 1

Dear colleagues, RIPE 78 kicked off in Reykjavík yesterday with 597 attendees checked in from 58 countries, of whom 163 are attending their first RIPE Meeting. The meeting programme featured tutorials and the Newcomer's Intro in the morning, followed by a full-day of plenary presentations. At the end of the day, attendees gathered for a RIPE 'Big Picture' BoF to exchange ideas about what kind of RIPE Meeting we should work on building. Then everyone gathered in the hotel for the first social of the night, the RIPE 78 Welcome Reception. The highlights of the day are online: https://ripe78.ripe.net/programme/report/monday/ Today's sessions have already begun with another full day of plenary presentations. The Women in Tech Session runs from 13:00-14:00 and features a fantastic panel discussing women's rights in Iceland and the ever-persisting gender pay gap. RIPE Accountability Task Force: Final Report

Dear colleagues, I am pleased to share the final report of the RIPE Accountability Task Force. This report has been updated to include the input received from the community after the publication of the draft version in October 2018. You can find the report here: https://www.ripe.net/participate/ripe/tf/ripe-accountability-task-force/rip… On behalf of the Task Force, I would like to thank everyone who shared their feedback with us on the mailing list and at RIPE Meetings. We now leave this report in the hands of the RIPE community. The community should consider next steps, including reviewing the recommendations and deciding on any further action. The RIPE Chair will be responsible for coordinating this process. With the publication of this document, our work is complete, and the RIPE Accountability Task Force is disbanded. I would like to further thank all my fellow task force members for their efforts, and the RIPE NCC for the valuable support it provided as secretariat. RIPE 78 Programme Committee Nominations

Dear Friends and Colleagues, The RIPE Programme Committee is responsible for recruiting and selecting presentations for the RIPE Meeting Plenary sessions. As the term of two RIPE PC members end, we are looking for new members in Spring 2019 who will be elected by the RIPE community at RIPE 78 in Reykjavik. There are currently two seats up for election to the RIPE PC. Please send nominations, with a biography, statement of interest and photograph, to pc(a)ripe.net. The Charter of the RIPE Programme Committee (https://www.ripe.net/ripe/docs/ripe-pc-charter) provides more information about the composition and roles of the RIPE PC. Nominations for the RIPE 78 PC elections can be sent in from today until Tuesday May 21st, 15:30 GMT. We will announce the PC elections at the RIPE meeting opening sessions, but interested parties can nominate themselves from now. We will close candidate nominations on Tuesday at 15:30 GMT (UTC), and publish the biographies on the RIPE Meeting web site. Candidates (or their stand-ins) can present themselves at the start of the Tuesday 16:00 GMT session. The RIPE PC online voting system will be open from Tuesday May 21st, 16:00 GMT until Thursday May 23rd, 17:30 GMT, for the community members to cast their votes. The total voting numbers may be public. The official announcement of the elected RIPE PC members will be on Friday morning, the 24th May, at the start of the 11:00 GMT closing plenary session.
