However, *trams running from Amsterdam's Central Station will be limited* on this day and it will be impossible to get through the centre of the city by tram, bus or taxi. If you are staying in the city centre, be prepared to walk to your hotel on this day. - Remembrance Day (Herdenkingsdag), Wednesday 4 May At 20:00 on Wednesday 4 May, the Netherlands falls silent for two minutes. This event is strictly observed throughout the entire country. A ceremony attended by the Queen also takes place on Dam Square right in front of the meeting venue. From 19:45 - 20:30, the front doors of the Hotel Krasnapolsky will be out of use and you will need to use the back entrance of the hotel to get in and out during this time. APNIC Announces its IPv4 Address Pool Reaches Final /8

[Apologies for duplicate emails] Dear Colleagues, Today, Friday 15 April 2011, APNIC, the Regional Internet Registry (RIR) for the Asia Pacific region, announced that it has distributed the final IPv4 address space from its reserves of IPv4. This means that APNIC is now supplying IPv4 address space to its members from the last /8 it holds according to the guidelines in section 9.10 in "Policies for IPv4 address space management in the Asia Pacific region": http://www.apnic.net/policy/add-manage-policy This event does not affect the RIPE NCC's reserves of IPv4 address space and we will continue to distribute these resources to our members on the basis of need until we reach the last /8. According to RIPE Document ripe-509, section 5.6, once the RIPE NCC reaches the last /8 of IPv4 address space, each Local Internet Registry (LIR) can receive one /22 (1024 IPv4 addresses) upon application for IPv4 resources. In order to obtain this /22 allocation, the LIR must already have an IPv6 allocation and have a demonstrated need for address space. IPv6 - Act Now --------------- The RIPE NCC cannot predict how long its own supply of IPv4 address space will last and has worked for several years to inform all stakeholders of the urgent need to deploy IPv6. It is now imperative that all stakeholders deploy IPv6 on their networks to ensure the continuity of their online operations and the long-term growth of the Internet. Display issues with applications that use encrypted connections (https)

[Apologies for duplicates] Dear members, It has come to our attention that some users experienced graphical and functional problems when attempting to use services like the LIR Portal that are now available through SSL encryption (https). We tracked these issues and found that some combinations of operating systems and browsers (for example Safari in MacOS X versions previous to 10.6.6 and Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 or below) did not recognize our certificate as valid. Our engineers worked to correct the problem and it is now fixed. We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused and please let us know if you encounter other issues. Dear Colleagues, We have introduced a new service, the LIR Locator: https://lirportal.ripe.net/maps/locator/ This new service is an extension of the existing list of RIPE NCC members: https://www.ripe.net/membership/indices/ and the RIPE NCC's service region map: https://www.ripe.net/lir-services/member-support/info/list-of-members In addition to clearly indicating those RIPE NCC members with an IPv6 RIPEness score of four, this new service marks the geographical location of members on a Google map. This service is accessible to the public and enables users to see the concentration of RIPE NCC members in cities and countries. RIPE NCC members can log in to to their LIR Portal account and either confirm the geo-location that we have determined for your registry's address from your public records or change it to any location within your registered country. More details about this service and future plans for it will be published on RIPE Labs shortly.
